Okay so I got SMT IV for the $29 sale price. Anyways, I suppose I did okay through the "training" part of the first little 30 minutes. BUT, I leveled several times, and kinda sporadically placed my stat points in some spots I thought might help, but what are some ideal stats that should be the focus of my leveling? Thanks for the advice in advance!!
Currently playing: Mario Kart 8, W101, Lego City, and MANY eshop games. :)

@devinias Always put your Stat points in all of the stats... You gain 5 points then put all 5 points in each 5 categories. Don't make one category higher than the other. You're gonna regret that later in the game.

I'm going to disagree a little bit with the guy before me. Stat balance may or may not be helpful in the long run, but you should focus on strengthening your magic for the time being. There are not a diversity of skills and demons available at the beginning, so you'll want some raw strength when going up against some of the harder early bosses.
My advice would be to buff your magic stat for now. Not saying to completely ignore your other stats, but it should be considerably higher than the others until you get through Naraku. I went for a stat balance approach the first time and seriously got bodied by the bosses hanging around the end of Naraku. My second time through, I focused on magic and had an easier time of killing them.
I'd say ignore your strength stat for now. You won't really be using physical attacks when fighting the more powerful bosses. You might want to boost dexterity if you're going to be using gun skills much.
