Topic: Shovel Knight or Bravely Default

For my next game, I've decided that I either want Bravely Default or Shovel Knight. I've wanted Bravely Default for a long time, but apparently Shovel Knight is amazing. Any advice on which one I should get?

Bravely Default is a longer game and a more in-depth RPG that you can devote many hours to. Shovel Knight is a platformer, but it is a TON of fun. Do you want something to sink time into? I have both games and if you can get both at some point you should. They are both fantastic games that I would recommend to anyone.

There is also the price difference. Shovel Knight is $15 and Bravely Default is around $39, unless the price has dropped (I'm unaware). Both games are worth more than their price in my opinion. They are chock full of content.

Are you looking for more in-depth story and turn based combat or fun, retro, difficult platforming? Bravely Default is a classically styled Japanese RPG and Shovel Knight is from a smaller western developer.

Wish I could comment on Shovel Knight, but unfortunately I'll probably be waiting for an Australian 3DS release for quite a while.
I do, however, think that Bravely Default is one of the most overrated games on the system... So based on that alone, my personal recommendation would be for Shovel Knight (which looks pretty awesome).

Personally, I would recommend Shovel Knight. Not only is it less expensive, but I feel it is easier to get into and enjoy than Bravely. I got Bravely back when it came out, and so far i'm only about half way through. Shovel Knight, on the other hand, I was able to quickly get into. Not to mention it has pretty high replayability with new game+. But honestly it is all about preference. If you are looking for a longer, more drawn out game, go for Bravely. If you are looking for a shorter game, go for Shovel Knight. But like SleepyCrossing said, get both if possible! They're both great

Bravely Default is a good game and I sunk 100 hours on it but it is very overrated. Bravely Second has to fix and improve a lot of things. If I had to rate it I'd give it a 7.

I haven't played Shovel Knight because it isn't out in Europe.
