As the title says I'm looking for people who bought or avoided Senran Kagura Burst.
I write for a small niche based blog and this game is getting a tonne of attention. A lot of it seems to be based on the "interesting" advertising campaign in Europe for it.
I'm planning an article about people's reaction and expectations in regards to this title. I just need a few questions answered from anyone willing to help me out (I can throw a mention out to you on the article if you want).
1.) did you buy this title?
2.) did you buy it physical or digital?
3.) in regards to 2.) why did you choose to buy it like that
4.) how do you feel about the box art/advertising campaign
5.) before seeing gameplay what type of game did you think it was?
6.) how do you feel now you have played the game
If you have any additional comments to make they are always welcome.
I'm waiting for Senran Kagura Burst 2: Floppy Moobies edition
For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday. [url=http://www.backloggery.com/jumpmad]Unive...
I bought digital because its only available digital in NTSC regions. I feel a bit uncomfortable about the ridiculous fanservice but love the traditional 2D Beat'em up gameplay....... also give the game credit because all the fanservicey costumes are unlocked through gameplay in an era were most developers seem hellbent in charging 0.99 or more a piece for those.
I bought it to do exactly the same thing as you for our podcast Rukirot, it should arrive today then I'll let you know what I think!
But oh man, that thing's going to fade into obscurity / get pulled pretty fast imho... Say what you will about the game, but it's currently 10th on the Amazon.co.uk charts!

1. Yes
2. Physical
3. Generally prefer physical copies.
4. Advertising was a bit amusing
5. Didn't know what genre of game it would be before seeing videos of the gameplay, could have been anything, fps, rts etc.
6. Haven't yet, still in the post. Usual game stores don't seem to be selling it.
1.) Yes
2.) Digital
3.) Didn't want that game box lying around lol. It's not like I'm going to lend this to anybody anyway
4.) Totally made a mockery of this game. Well, I guess it was a tad funny too.
5.) A beat-em-up. With some fanservice on the side. (idk why anyone would buy this if they didn't know what the gameplay would be like)
6.) It's still a beat-em-up. With some fanservice on the side. It's not the best game imo, it can be pretty fun if you don't think too hard. The story is surprisingly engrossing and they do a good job of writing rounded characters (pun most definitely not intended). Honestly they could get rid of the fanservice and i would enjoy it the same amount.
always thought I'd change to Gyarados after I turned 20 but hey, this is more fitting I guess. (also somebody registered under the original Magikarp name and I can't get back to it anymore orz)
1.) Ohhhh, yes!
2.) Physical - the Homecoming limited edition, to be precise!
3.) I simply prefer physical over digital in general. But the limited edition was out of admiration for the concept of fanservice with great gameplay and story, something barely any mecium in japan manages to pull off, lately.
4.) I don't mind it. At times, I feel the ads are a bit too misleading, but most of it is still funny, so it's cool.
5.) The first thing I saw was a boss battle... I dunno what to say.
6.) Unfortunately I haven't yet. My order is still underway.

1.) did you buy this title? Not yet still on the fence about it.
2.) did you buy it physical or digital? If buying it I'll buy in digital as North America has no choice that's only version we got of this game...
3.) in regards to 2.) why did you choose to buy it like that - To be honest & quite frank I only buy physical copies of games if I have to I prefer downloading but will buy in physical cartridge form if no other choice.
4.) how do you feel about the box art/advertising campaign - To blunt to be put lightly...
5.) before seeing gameplay what type of game did you think it was? Girly type of game to be honest.
6.) how do you feel now you have played the game - If I buy this game i'll let you know.
It reminds me of style savvy with the girly stuff & dragon ball z with the fighting in it but both in good ways.
1) Yes.
2) Digital
3) I'm Canadian and it was the only available option. I would have bought it digital anyway though, as I prefer to have all of my games in one place with no card-swapping.
4) I think it was mostly non-existent in North America, but I was amused by the European marketing campaign. It's not taking itself seriously and the humour of the ads matches the humour and tone of the game. It's all tongue-in-cheek. The box art is provocative I suppose, but as an anime vet, it didn't really phase me.
5) Mix of visual novel and 2D fighter, I guess. Something like a game version of Ikki Tousen.
6) It's great. The gameplay is fantastic, the humour is amusing, and the girls have a surprising depth of personality.
So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.
1.) Yes
2.) Digital
3.) It was download only in North America so didn't have a choice.
4.) Yeah, wasn't really any marketing in this region. This site is the only reason I knew about it but I likely would have come across this game eventually since Fighting is one of my favorite game genres and the pickings are pretty slim on the 3DS. I thought the European marketing campaign was cute and charming, I like how they sort of made fun of how touchy people are about these sort of things. Would have been perfect marketing for the USA imo especially with all the conservative folks around.
5.) Sort of like a mix between visual novel games like Clannad/Little Busters and Dead or Alive.
6.) The visual novel elements admittedly dragged me down a bit more than I thought they would but overall it's a pretty solid game. The fighting is fun and chaotic yet rewarding. The characters are pretty common anime archetypes but still manage to be charming and engaging. I'm digging all the accessories and customizing options as well.

1.) Maybe... (yes)
2.) Digital
3.) NA
4.) Eh, never looked...also don't have many channels on TV worth looking at anyways.
5.) Just some random silly Japanese game involving jiggly girls, lol. (eh, still think that, but read NL's review and watched videos, and...well, yeah. xD )
6.) Still downloading.
