I still don't understand what makes them forms and not evolutions. Their stats are different, they have different abilities, you cannot change the forms and they learn different moves too (although they only get two or three exclusive moves). Even their heights are different. Surely that counts as a separate 'mon and not a form, right?
@Octane They're trying to make things as inconsistent as possible. Branching Eevee evolutions in gen 1; the static alt forms of Unknown in 2; both weather and out of battle form-shifting Pokemon in 3 as well as randomized Spinda spots; gender differences, region differences, forms dictated by hold items, and evolutions of older Pokemon in 4; seasonal forms and the dumb fusion stuff in 5, and mega evolutions + stones in 6 never to be seen again.
Finally, gen 7 rounds us out with Alolan forms of only some first gen Pokemon, Ash Greninja's trainer fusion ability, collectable Zygarde forms, Midnight and Midday forms for Lycanroc and only Lycanroc, Wishiwashi's shrinking, and yet more fusion stuff. I wish they had just stuck with branching evolutions and alternate forms.
@Haru17 I can understand the Unown (or Spinda), that's just a cosmetic change, and a very minor one. The weather changes (although both Cherrim and Castform are rarely used) had actual in-battle applications. And they're still the same Pokemon. Lycanroc though...
At least they can ditch mega evolutions whenever they please. Just make the mega stones compatible in a new generation and they're gone. Since they're just like Lycanroc, different Pokemon that pretend to be different forms.
@Tsurii Does it really matter though? They still need a separate model, and you still need to remember the differences if you fight them in battle. The only actual difference is one less spot taken up in the national Pokedex, and one less name to remember...
@IceClimbers I imqgine they arent Solagelo and Lunala but forms of Necrozma.
Given Necrozma and is the Prism Pokemon (and therefore refracts light like a prism) I assume it will take the light of Solgaleo or Lunala and refract it, making a body based on them for itself out of their light.
Hence they look like glowing ethereal creatures.

@BLP_Software Normally I'd agree with you, but since Solgaleo and Lunala already have their ''light'' forms, I think it's just boring possession/fusion (like how Kyurem fuses with Zekrom and the other one, but they're still forms of Kyurem). I also think that Necrozma may get its own form. It looks like as if his body is composed of several part, including a dragon head. There has to be more to that, so I think he may get his own ''true'' form or something like that.
@Octane Necrozma is certainly weird. I dont know if GameFreak will be that creative but then again we also got legendary Pokemon that are also technically Ultra Beasts that can evolve so....

@BLP_Software Which ones are you talking about? Cosmog? I think it, and Necrozma, share some similarities with ultra beasts, but they aren't considered ultra beasts in-game.
I mean, that dragon head has to be there for a reason, right?
"YouTubers, streamers, reviewers, developers, 'gamers' all think they're unique but they're all the same, predictable people. "
This is actually something you can hear quite frequently from the guy who thinks he's the special one and notices everything that's wrong with the world. The irony is that those people sin just as much or even more from that than the people they cricitize. Dude, just on this thread, you have many gamers with different opinions and even when they share a similar posture (having similar opinions isn't something bad by the way) they add different aspects with their perspectives. Sure, there's people that just follow, but thinking that every gamer, developer and reviewer is the same is just a naive, edgy perspective that I don't share by any means. I won't stop giving people credit simply because I do'n't think it's "undue" in many cases.
@Tsurii Was Global Link wrong in that case? I've seen some people translate the Japanese form to ''sunset'', but you're right that it wouldn't make sense in the rest of the languages.
In that case it's one less lazy form we have to look out for, and more room for Alolan forms, which can be a lot more creative if they're not called Muk, Golem or Dugtrio.
@Tsurii At first I thought it was just an orange midday form, I had to compare the two to see the difference. They could've done a little more I think.
I still think Lycanroc Midday form is the superior one out of the 3 in terms of design, specially with it's shiny colours. I found dusk form to be way to similar to that one but with just little more fur on the back and different colors.
Now I wonder what @Haru17 thinks of The Jimquisition. Same kind of arbitrary analysis that's really just a bunch of fluff somebody would add to hit a word count on a college essay in order to be contrarian for the sake of being contrarian.
@Tsurii Didn't get a good look at the anime yet, but I remember Ash's Noctowl being a lot smaller than other Noctowl, so it wouldn't be the first time if a Pokemon is smaller/bigger than what it's supposed to be.
In-game they're equal in size. I'll try and find a good comparison when I get home. At least the Dusk form makes sense as an actual form by the looks of it.
