I'm down for weird names.. but Type: Null just doesn't make sense to me, type would clearly mean its a specific entity or part of a specific class or position, and Null means worthless, no value, and just plain 0. So... "Class: Worthless?" or "Class: 0?"

Null or Nil (at least from a programming/database perspective) truly means nothing; there's no value there at all, it's just a bunch of empty space, fluff, etc. Zero is still technically something as it's still a number/value. It seems to me that they're calling this Pokemon a Type: Nothing since it's a conglomeration of various parts; I'm assuming it's just assigned the Normal type for the sake of gameplay mechanics. Either way, I find the concept cool. It reminds me a little of Digimon's Kimeramon.

Jangmo-o is very cute/neat-looking, I really hope its whole evolution line is generally cool. Alola Raticate, though...such a disappointment. I feel like they should have went a different direction with the design; it looks like a morbidly obese version of Rupert Thorne from Batman: The Animated Series.

The twelve hour difference between Sun and Moon is interesting, so much so that I may start leaning towards Moon (I often play at night). Still, I'll wait for info on version exclusives before I make my decision.

The Ultra Beasts are an interesting concept and seem to be something separate from Pokemon. I'm interested in learning more about them, and if they're artificial creations (which seems somewhat likely).

The Aether Foundation is definitely intriguing. Like others, I suspect they have more motives than what they're revealing, but I'm unsure at this time if they're evil. It could be that they become overzealous in "saving" Pokemon from humans, similar to what N and some of Team Plasma were trying to accomplish.

While the Pokemon Snap type add-in looks cool, I'd rather them put their efforts into making a true sequel of the N64 game.

Fair point. O_o If she gives the player some paper and a pen, start running....

Well, based on that trailer, I'd put money on the Aether Foundation being up to something dodgy. Their whole setup just screams 'evil team' in the most blatant way possible.

Not sure how the time thing will work though. Could you basically play through Pokemon Moon like it was Pokemon Sun by setting the 3DS clock back twelve hours before starting?

And Type: Null... Huh. Interesting design and concept, very strange name. Wonder if it's part of a series (someone joked about a 'Type: Void' to go with it) or gets renamed when you catch it. Or whether it's a knockoff Arceus which can somehow change types with a hidden ability and gets a more powerful form minus helmet.

So yeah, lots of cool stuff here.

If it got a multitype hidden ability that would be interesting.

If it'd work like arceus though I'm not sure, as much as the things around Type: Null's neck look like arceus's ring, Arceus is able to use the plates that process his lifeforce inorder to change types for survival, Type: Null would have to take a genesect drive like mechanic to do a similar multitype mirror.

Would make sense since the only spoken medieval times pokemon strong enough we can think of is the regi trio, hoopa, lucario/mew, and arceus himself posing a threat hating on humans for their betrayal.

Yeah, I definitely think Aether is the secret Bigger Bad. Lusamine's dialogue just screams evil team leader and they have their own grunts.

Even though I usually end up playing at night, I'm still going to stick with Sun. There's just something about it being daylight in-game while it's nighttime in real life that would be jarring... Kinda breaks the immersion for me.

If rockruff appears in just one version and the plant pokemon mentioned in the "leaks" in the other one, I'm going to stick with the version that has rockruff in it. If it appears on both, I'm going to pick Sun because I like the legendary a bit more.

By the way, did anyone noticed that in the last video with the kids they didn't seem to be trading pokemon but gifting them? The pokemon that the hawaiian kid gives to the japanese is a trade indeed, but the one that the japanese kid sends later to him and that he accepts seems to be a gift. Could be quite wrong though, either way it wouldn't make much of a difference since if you wanted to give a pokemon you could always trade it in exchange for whatever crappy pokemon the other person didn't want or viceversa.

@roy130390 I think Rockruff is in both; it's sort of the mascot of the games at this point. They're not going to make him exclusive to one version.

Eel

Well, if it does evolve into a werewolf, it would make sense to have it exclusive to Moon.

I wouldn't call it much of a mascot though... Even Pyukumuku has had more exposure than it.

I'm not sure which version to get, the time shifting doesn't mean much as I generally have around 4 hours sleep anyway.

The ability to gift Pokémon would be most welcome considering that I rarely have the need to trade Pokémon with friends in-person seeing as my Pokédex is full while my friends who've only recently gotten back into the franchise have not been playing since Gen II. I normally use Pokémon Bank to transfer any Pokémon that they desire, though it would be nice to be able to avoid this convoluted process.

I had my heart set on Moon, but upon hearing news of the in-game time shift, I'm having second thoughts (though two of my friends will be getting Sun, so I feel at least one of us should have the opposite version). I think this is such a stupid mechanic. I hope that there's a way to opt out of it, at least in Moon version.

@Meowpheel Maybe mascot wasn't the right word, but he's supposed to be a special Pokemon along with the starters, we've seen a lot of artwork of him and he's been in almost every trailer. It would be weird if he ended up as a version exclusive.

After the New trailer, I'm even more hyped for the games. the Aether Foundation reminds me of N's vision of Team Plasma mixed With Colress (If I recall correctly he wanted to create a strong Pokémon (the original dragon (Zekrom + Reshiram + Kyurem) and gave up halfway or something)

And Team skull reminds me of Team Rocket, just less powerfull. (As in street thugs instead of a collected organization)

Atleast, I hope it will get good writing the entire way and not just a few small chapters after the ending like Lookers bureu and the Delta Chapter.

Tobiaku

Tobiaku

@MarcelRguez When you say it, he might resemble Silver yeah. This is just brainstorming but what if instead of him being Silver in Giovanni's possision, Gladion is like Silver and Lusamine is Giovanni? Unlike TR Aether has a rival in form of Skull, so he joins them instead of fighting alone?

The plot could be something like:
And you the player help the "good" organization Aether to stop Skull and ruin Gladions plan to stop Aether.

He explains what really is going on, the professor and Sycamore's assistants explains that Lille is not really human and he is protecting her from something she can't explain but are very afraid of (Aether mutating Pokémon and turning children into monsters) and Sycamore's assistants gave you the Zygard box to collect cells so Lille can have a power to protect herself. (Punichan (mini Zygard thing) is in her bag like Z1 is in Bonnie's in the anime)

You go to catch the legend on the cover of the game to have another strong Pokémon and you, Lillie, Gladio and Hau goes to stop Aether once and for all. And somewhere Hau dies/gets turned into a beast so he can serve a purpose for the plot other than just be your buddy.

Final boss

Ministory about Faba and how he was not really evil.

Tobiaku

Tobiaku

@MarcelRguez Your right. I forgot Type: Null's descripton. Plus I personally is way more interested in Lillie and UB:01...
But just to give it a twist:
Say the mythical pokémon in question is actually Magearna, but Gladion misinterprent what he hear Null is created for, so he steals it and want to use it to capture the box legendary to stop AF?
Another (and MUCH less likely) would be if the pokémon spoken of in mythology was Mew. Say the caught Mew once, but it was able to escape, they got a piece of its DNA and made the Mewtwo in XY, but that one sadly also escaped. So they made Type Null to recapture them...

Say they made the story twice as long as usual pokémon games and the first half is VS Team Skull and capture the box legend, in typical Pokémon fashion. Like pretty much every main game since gen 3...
And the second half is VS AF.

AF probally want the box legend, but the thing is, I really want them to focus more on creating their own monsters instead -.-

I'm in the boat thinking this might be a really short story mode game, with a big postgame.

Theorectically, there is less "gyms" in the form of trials since there is a trial per island (4 or 5 trials vs. 8 gyms) so the "E4" if there is one would be accessed sooner than the typical storyline. The only way the story could be extended is if you needed to do long sidequest before you can actually do the trials (think gen 4 Roark, but instead of right below the city you have to sail to another island with no hint where he is or a cave that is almost zelda dungeon sized to find him to open the gym.)

I'm assuming half would be like that, the other half would be inbetween very long plot moments with team skull, Aether, the legends, Ultra Beast, and other major things.

I would prefer the story itself be short, not X/Y short (I reached the E4 in a day whereas it took me 18 hours total to get to distortion world in platinum on release even after beating DP.), but short enough where the major plot points are there, you can breeze through it if you want or need to, but the post game is just as long if not longer with more things to find, more places to explore, like gen 4's post game with hidden places such as turnback cave, heatran, etc along with a delta episode like story..

I'd like if the post game had the same legendary influence ORAS had, but instead of focused on one legend, they give you different stories and events for multiple legends with cinematics for each, almost like a pokemon ranger type story.

This might be a little Farfetch'd but I have a feeling that Ash-Greninja and the Ultra Beasts are connected. If you think about it, both of them can change their form to resemble trainers they have a bond with, and that could be more than just coincidence. Maybe the same kind of energy that allows Greninja to change form exists in the Ultra Beasts or something?
