Topic: Pokémon Rumble World

Since no one else made a topic about the new Rumble game I might as well do it. Pokémon Rumble World is now available in eShop for free. At least in Europe, I think America gets it soon too.

Here are my first thoughts:

Positive:

  • Every Pokémon available
  • More akin to the first Rumble game on WiiWare
  • Kept challenges from Rumble U (clear stage in given time, use super-effective move, etc.), they appear in quests that the king gives you
  • Mega evolution, although I haven't been able to use one myself
  • More interesting looking maps (although still quite simple) that differ a bit even if you choose the same stage
  • New stage hazards
  • Other things to collect besides Pokémon (clothing for Mii)

Negative:

  • Stage selection by stopping an arrow instead of just choosing where to go
  • Maximum of two moves, I'd like to be able to use 4 different moves since there are enough buttons and main games have maximum of 4 moves
  • Doesn't have multiplayer

@Espurr: Europe got it at 10 AM local time, meaning that I got it 2 hours earlier than UK since I live in Finland. America is supposed to get it today too. Maybe at 10 AM?

@Sleepingmudkip: You use Pokédiamonds to buy new levels + other things and continue if you die (instead of starting level from the beginning). The game was pretty generous with diamonds when I started. I was able to unlock 3 balloons. Balloons take you to different levels, each balloon are able to take you to multiple stages. Let's say you buy Ruby balloon. You are able to enter 4 different stages. You don't need to buy another Ruby balloon to enter the stages again but you do have to wait a bit like in Shuffle. There are other things you can buy including items that boost your Pokémon' power and one that lets you keep more Pokémon so you don't have to release them. The prices seem to be quite fair. The first balloons are 10-20 diamonds, Pokémon storage things are 2 diamongs (increases the amount you can keep by 30) and continuing if you die is 2 diamonds. I don't know how easy/hard getting diamonds will become but for now it's been pretty easy although I think I won't be able to get more today. Well, I've already played 1,5 hours today.

Is it really more akin to "Pokemon Rumble" than "Pokemon Rumble Blast" and "Pokemon Rumble U"? If so, I'm in.

I loved the WiiWare original and have skipped out on every sequel because of how dispoointing they've been in comparison. Rumble is the perfect spin-off in my mind to be free to play and hearing it's closer to the first one makes me happy. I'm definitely downloading it later today. Maximum of two moves kind of sucks though, sounds like it could get repetitive fast.

@baba_944: The stages are like in original Rumble. Go through bunch of Pokémon and advance to next floor and there's a boss waiting at the end of the level. I haven't seen any game modes from Rumble Blast (like tap a till you win), I don't think there are any. I haven't seen any Battle Royales myself yet but according to Serebii they are in. Only thing they brought back from Rumble U is challenges like: "Beat the stage in 150 seconds", these challenges are part of the missions that the king offers you and each challenge gives you diamonds.

Looks like it's available in NA now. Seems they stick with the 12pm EST rule. Just waiting for the download to complete.

A dying animal struggles, thrashes and howls in protest as its life torn from it. To see this in action, watch Animal Planet. The same thing happens when a video game is or isn't released. To see this in action, stay here.

It seems like they may be a tad stingy with the diamonds, however I can see myself putting more hours into this game than pokemon shuffle (so long as the daily events in RW keep up)

The king said to visit him every day for a new challenge, so yes, daily events.

So I guess our main source of gameplay are the ballons, which need diamonds to be bought.

The more you play in each ballon, the better the levels get and you need to wait longer to be able to play it again, so the best way to play a lot would be buying many ballons.

And the main way to get diamonds (without buying them) is doing well in the King's daily challenge. Aka working for the King.

Sounds like a pyramidal scheme.

Well at least you don't need to buy the same ballon twice...

Thanks for the codes! I find it interesting that Nintendo's put a limit on the number of jewels you can buy (3000), I assume this is more as a bug net to stop any excessive exploits than consumer friendly mumbo jumbo!

I'd imagine it's because they don't want to be on one of the weekly news stories where a child spends a crazy amount on their parent's credit card on a game and the parents play the victim or sue.

Hello from Seattle

Bolt_Strike

This game is actually a little better than I thought it would be. The F2P elements do get in the way a bit (the only thing that really bothers me is having to buy Balloons with Poke Diamonds and the wait times to revisit them), but beyond that this game is addicting. So far, I beat the first challenge, and I'm waiting to buy the Ruby and Sapphire Balloons (I'm definitely buying the Ruby Balloon first, I need a good Ground type).

I actually bought the discounted diamond packs, I think I'll use the coins to buy the nicer ballons when I unlock them.

It's a pretty ok game, I can see myself enjoying it from time to time like shuffle.

Whelp, I've reached lv. 20 and caught latios I think I need a 5 minute break.

What do I think of the game? Basicly everything Bolt_Strike said, the game is very addicting, and the micro-transactions aren't that major, infact skippable. Those that do wish to progress through the game at a much faster rate, would not mind buying the pokediamonds. The cost of them for the quanity given and the longetivity you have them for is pretty fair. Even if you bought your way til the end, you wouldn't even spend as much as you would on a physical copy of the game without microtransactions. The game feel very rewarding and charming (unlike shuffle) when you acheive something.

The only things that do bother me is, like bolt_strike said, the slow pace waiting time for the balloons to refill, although for the most part I did just use pokediamonds out of impatientence.. I took advantage of the spare 2.9 dollar change in my eshop and bought 250 pokediamonds while they were on sale.

Another issue I have, is the RNG with "catching" pokemon.. especially bosses. It took me about 10 tries to catch latios (thankfully, if you call someone online from the "Visitors" button, they will teleport you back to the same exact stage.. which is handy on those rare 3 stars.) just because each time it gave me pokecoins instead. I think this was a mechanic in the other rumbles, but last I checked the other rumbles weren't that great because of that repetive grinding.. though this is my first rumble so maybe I'm missing something here.

The other thing is stage selection, I don't like the roulette part of it.. it seems like it changes speeds after each use so it was difficult for me to predict or percisely pick the correct stage. I did read later there is an upgrade you can buy they slows it down and let's you choose.

Mega evolution is the biggest thing I'm confused about.. I have no clue when I get access to it. I fought a mega alakazam when I was around level 9.. I'm level 20 and haven't heard of anything related to mega evolution since nor gained the ability. Anybody know when you're appost to get mega evolution?

But other than that, it's still really great and addicting. It's definitely going to have me hooked until I finally catch them all or get addicted to something else. Gameplay is just too fun and the desire to find and catch certain pokemon to use play as them really persuades me to keep going.
