A majority of the TMs are Normal based. It's weird that there's only 1 Fire TM (Fire Blast), 2 water TMs (Bubblebeam & Water Gun) and 2 Grass (Solarbeam & Mega Drain). Fire was really always kind of useless imo in gen 1 even though I just went through half the game with Growlith then Arcanine. He only had Ember until Cinnabar Gym + leveling around the same time to get Flamethrower...
I always remember I'd use Flying or Psychic in the Celadon Gym unless I had started with Charmander.

@Meowpheel: Dang it! I wanted to catch 'em all this time. It'd be nice if we could trade via internet but I think that'd be a little too much of work for a GB game.

Anyway. I have a Butterfree and while I always tend to catch one and leave it after the second gym, I find this one to be pretty strong. Its Special and Speed stats are better than what I expected.

Yeah, I trained my Dratini for a bit because I always have had a Dragon in my team since Silver. Then I remembered how useless it is in gen1. At the E4 now, dragged out my Dugtrio again

Also on the previous talk about Masterball use. First time I played Pokemon I used it on a Ditto. Yup. Though to be fair going in blind to the game I'm fairly sure I didn't know about the Legendaries. It's weird to think how little I knew

Not nearly as bad as this.

So... Dragon type... I guess I never fully realized just how... minimal it's presence was. One Pokemon line, one move, learned by that one line, and Gyarados.

I wonder what was going through their minds when they made the single Dragon-type move a locked damage move.

Gyarados isn't even Dragon so it's like half a point there. The anime always made Dragon type seem like half way to legendary Pokemon, so that it was special and rare but still possible to obtain, but difficult to train.

Really, the only reason I added Dratini to my team is because I want to complete the dex... And well, the best way to get dragonite is actually carrying dratini and let it steal exp from my main team.

I'm sure he'll be useful in the end, dragonite is one of the stronger Pokemon in the game regardless of useful moves.

The exp all is super annoying though.... It's like... (A=press the button A)

"Pokemon 1 got x exp!"
A
"With the exp all, Pokemon 1"
A
"Got (super tiny amount of exp) exp!"
A
"With the exp all, Pokemon 2"
A
"Got (super tiny amount of exp) exp!"
A
"With the exp all, Pokemon 3"
A
"Got (super tiny amount of exp) exp!"
A
"With the exp all, Pokemon 4"
A
"Got (super tiny amount of exp) exp!"
A
"With the exp all, Pokemon 5"
A
"Got (super tiny amount of exp) exp!"
A
"With the exp all, Pokemon 6"
A
"Got (super tiny amount of exp) exp!"
A

And it does the same after every single Pokemon you beat.

In a sense, the Exp. Share, which replaced the Exp. All in the second generation and onwards, now works like that too in the 6th generation. Thankfully it doesn't cut the Exp. into tiny pieces like the Exp. All does or tell you about every Pokémon gaining Exp. The only way to really get rid of it is to dump it in the PC. It's one of those little things that smash your rose-tinted nostalgia goggles to pieces when playing these old games again.

(Ok so here's a question I need answering I have searched online and failed to find and help at all)

First question can I add Pokemon yellow code for the 2ds using this Datel Action Replay Cheat System (3DS/DSi XL/DSi/DS Lite) http://www.amazon.co.uk/Datel-Action-Replay-Cheat-System/dp/B...

(Reason I want to use cheat codes as there is there no way to boost money and I lost all my money on the 5th GYM because I kept losing and I need more in game money so if I brought this would it work)

If not is there an action replay or games shark or anything were I can get extra money as I don't fancy starting a new game,

Is there an item or hack I can buy which will work on 2ds and I can add codes for games like Pokemon red/blue/yellow from the Nintendo e store, Surely there must be a product out there where I can use cheats like money for example on downloaded games from the Nintendo estore games

I really doubt you'll be able to use a cheating device with a virtual console title.

You can always try and level up one of your Pokemon, grind for money with PayDay, restart your game or use the mew glitch to get a lv100 Pokemon (and kill all the fun of the game).

To be honest I'm just really surprised no one has made a device were you can use hacks on Virtual console titles

Why... didn't you save before the fight and reload when you lost? I frequently save, and especially before any major encounter (possible exception in the Elite 4, since you're "locked in" until you win or white out).

That isn't to say the lack of funds isn't an issue (thank goodness GSC added the ability to re-fight trainers), but if you white out, reload.

Hang on you can re battle trainers you have faced

Only the elite four.

Anyway, even if you keep losing the battle, your Pokemon still get the exp from the Pokemon you managed to KO... So you can just keep trying until your Pokemon are good enough.

Ok this is the thing I was lossing on purpose to get xp as the local Pokemon I was getting f Ron 150xp to 300xp were on the gym leader was getting over 500xp but forgot when you get wiped out you loss half of your money and this is was has annoyed me is that. I know it's my own fault this is why I thought I remember back in the day on gameboy colour and etc you could use game shark codes etc to get money rare candys and so on so I thought I wonder if you can on here this was why I asked because I would pay real money to get my money back that I lost, and it's a shame there's nothing out there that I could use to boost money, now I haven't playe those games for well over ten years, So am I missing something when I ask is there a way to earn money in this game other then just fighting trainers that are dotted round the map @Meowpheel:

As I said, you can use TM16 payday. Each time you use it, you get an amount of money equal to your Pokemon's level multiplied by 2. It's little, but it builds up.

The other plan is beating the elite four over and over.

You could also sell some of your stockpiled items.

I don't know if the missingno glitch works in Yellow, but you could try doing it to multiply a valuable item. Like a nugget.

Do you have any items you can sell for money to get into the Safari Zone?
You just need to get in once (remember to save first and reset if you lose) and get the HM03 (at the end) and the Gold Teeth (near the end). That is really the only time you need to spend money in the game.
Then once you have that and Surf from being Koga, you can get Pay Day (TM16) on Route 12. Teach it to a Pokemon and you can very slowly grind money (it only earns you $2xLevel per hit, but that's your only infinite gold farming in this game outside of E4). If you can't afford to buy more balls to catch something that can learn Pay Day, get a Rhyhorn in Safari Zone and evolve it (level 42). (Pay Day can be taught to Pikachu, Psyduck, Mankey, Slowpoke, Seel lines as well as Nidoking/queen, Rhydon and Snorlax)
(if you don't have any Pokemon that can learn Surf, the game will give you one in a story event later. Unless it's been changed from RB.)

You can still do the 99 rare candies (or 99 of anything) if you do the MissingNO glitch, if you really just want to blast through the game.
