I think I have done everything I can without spending money. I've gotten every Pokemon except for the Mega evolved ones up through Area 7 and done every challenge that doesn't require Pokemon I don't have or unlocking a third slot. I love Picross, but there are so many free options on my Kindle and other places I find it hard to pay for it anymore. I guess I just do the daily challenges for fun now until I build up enough to unlock the next area.

After 40 hours i finished all areas with the exception of the "roaming" Pokémons.
I also did not finish all the challanges or the two murals (missing 13 i think) and i have not touched the alternate mode.
There should be another 30 - 40 hours of content in this game for me.

Pretty good for a 30€ title.

I bought the one-time offers some time ago as well. First time I paid for a free to play title. I'm in area 13. Collecting picrites so I can advance to the next area. I should be able to get enough picrites to open a couple more areas before I have nothing but the daily challenge to do. I used some of my picrites to unlock Alt-World. It's nice that you don't have to unlock areas again there but it seems you can't earn picrites by completing stages in there. Correct me if I'm wrong, I've only played the tutorial puzzles from Alt-World.

It's its, not it's.

The discounted picrites were enough to remove the HP bar and unlock all the areas up to 10.

I think I'll end up buying the 4000 picrit pack when I get enough eShop credit. Eventually.

I've just figured out you actually need to tap on the picrite reward medals to earn them so now I have enough to pay to go to the next area without having to do a few days worth of challenges

i really dont like the mission system. i need to choose a certain pokemon before solving the picross, but i dont have that pokemon even though i finished all previous picross from the game.

Ok first off, I played a bit of it and from what I've read, this game isn't a free to play but rather "Free to start". Its meaningless to give it a score of 7/10 if once you pay for 5000 picarites, you can get as much as you want for free and that time limit for tries fades out as well.

Honestly, what is it with these games not being forced to pay time and time that cause them to get such low scores when it acts more like a retail game. Such unfairness here.

After so long...I'm back. Don't ask why

@Artwark Huh? Unfair to whom? The game, or the people spending $30 for a puzzle game with less content than other $6 Picross games on the eShop. Not quite sure what you're saying.

It is actually completely possible to play it 100% without paying any money. If you're willing to play it daily for a little bit over a year, that is.

Aint nobody got time for that.

Yeah, it's possible. But it seems like Artwark was criticizing the review score or something based on the fact that you had pay for the game.

Or something, can't tell.

Please tell me about these games that have more content. I really want to know because i love picross. The e Series got way less content. The GB one that you can buy on the 3DS got less as well.

@Sinister: I've mispoken. This does not have less content than the $6 ones. But the Picross series does not have "way less". They have anywhere between 50% to 67% of the content this game has, for a fifth of the price.

I am not demeaning this game, as I've enjoyed it so far and even bought some picrites, but you are definitely paying for the Pokemon branding if you buy the full game up front.

I do like the feeling of progression Pokemon Picross gives me, but I also don't like the powerups at all. The use of powerups takes away from a lot of these puzzles because it makes them far too easy.

If you love picross, you definitely should check out the e series because, dollar for dollar, they have a lot more content than Pokemon Picross.

Na it does offer way more content than most of the e Series games. All 6 of those games got a total playtime of ~110 hours.
I am perhaps half way trough Pokémon Piross now and am sitting at over 40 hours. I am still missing 5 Pokemon, still have to do many of the challanges that i could not do when i was at the level and have still to finish both murals as well as the alternate mode.

So after completing all those things i expect another 40 hours gametime.
So that 75% for the same price of all 6 e Series games. Like i said this game is slighty overpriced compared to the e Seies games but it does offer a lot and the Pokemon theme makes it much more enjoyable for me at least

Oh, I call "content" the stuff in the game, like puzzles. Based on number of puzzles, my numbers are right. Replaying puzzles to beat missions is just padding, and not new content.

So if you're asking how much time you get out of a game, that will depend on the person. For example, I find Pokemon puzzles to be a breeze if you use the powerups, which would actually lower play time.

I see where you're coming from now though. Good luck to you.

As far as content goes Picross e6 has 10 pages of 15 regular stages or 150, 9 pages of 15 Mega Picross stages or 135, 15 gift puzzles from past games and 3 micross stages. they have between 30 to 40 inside them each depending on the painting. That is about 420 puzzles with no replay-ability. I assume e5 and e4 are the same as there was no changes other then the paintings.

In Pokemon Picross the map says how many stages are in them so this is what they have.
Area - # of pokemon
1 - 3
2 - 5
3 - 6
4 - 8
5 - 8
6 - 6
7 - 7
8 - 8
9 - 9
10 - 10
11 - 8
12 - 9
13 - 7
14 - 10
15 - 12
16 - 11
17 - 10
18 - 12
19 - 11
20 - 14
21 - 13
22 - 11
23 - 12
24 - 13
25 - 15
26 - 13
27 - 13
28 - 13
29 - 12
30 - 15
Total 304

There are also 2 murals. The Alt-World Has the same layout as the main world. The pictures in each area in the Alt-world are the same as the ones in the main world but switch about to change the order. Alt-world pictures are also Maga Picross so the numbers on the picture are different then the main world. This is a bit debate-able as to whether or not this is new content or not. To me this is just another way of extending the replay-ability of the 304 stages/pictures.

304/708 depending on opinion in Pokemon picross vs. the 420 in Picross e6. Both @Klimbatize and @Sinister are correct. there is both more and less content. The biggest advantage to pokemon picross is the replay-ability. I agree the skills do cheapen the puzzles but to complete the challenges you need to look at your team and setup the skills/types you need. These skills make this game way too easy. In the other Picross games I refused to uses that starting cross reveal.

What irritates me the most about Pokemon Picross is i prefer to play with the d-pad and the map requires a stylus. I want to use the d-pad on the map.

Edit. I guess I should include the Murals in the Pokemon Picross numbers. The 2 murals are 64 each for 128 That does put the base number up to about on par with the e series. There are no alt world murals.

@Klimbatize: Isn't spending 30$ worth it after you got to experience the game or if you like the game? I can understand a demo might not win everyone here but since you get to experience the entire game with little issues that don't hinder the game at all, then what reason would you not like to spend a lot to get rid of those issues unless you don't like Picross to begin with.

Also, if you look at the Nintendolife review, the article doesn't say anything about that microtransactions being completely gone once you pay 30$ and that the time limit fades away. Even the youtube video doesn't state that. It simply tells players not to get the game unless they don't mind the microtransactions which btw aren't that big of a deal since you can get rid of them like how you can for phone games as well. And for that reason, giving the game a 7/10 isn't fair if you haven't stated this fact in mind. It deserves an 8/10 or at the very least, a proper review. That's my big complaint here.

The moment when you realize just how powerful the Pokémon powers are. I'm currently grinding for picrites and I started a 20x15 puzzle that had some requirements like have a mythical Pokémon and use Freeze Time. Well, I set Mew as my helper and used Freeze Time as soon as the puzzle started and when I was 2/3 done with the puzzle I checked the timer and it had just started. Well, since I don't want to replace my solving times with ones that I've achieved using powers, I had to wait almost 10 minutes. You can basically solve every puzzle with 0 time with Freeze Time. These powers are so broken. I can't see why anyone would want to use them, at least the ones that are overpowered.

It's its, not it's.

I just use them to get the extra picrites. I agree they take away a lot of the fun of the game. First time I play a puzzle now, I don't use any powerups. It's tough to find good 20x15 puzzles so I don't want to ruin them with powerups.

Pretty sure you can just use the pokemon powers when you are nearly done with the puzzle. This way you get the picrites and it doesn't take away from the challenge of the puzzle.
