Topic: Picross e...?

Is picross e worth it or should I wait until picross e2 or e3?

Picross e and Picross e2 are pretty similar.
I bought Picross e when it launched in the PAL regions and by the time I was running out of puzzles they released Picross e2.
If you're a fan of Picross then I'd recommend buying it.
I got about 20 hours out of both titles so pretty substantial compared to a lot of other eShop titles.

I'm not sure whether I'll download it or not. I love me some Picross, but the fact that the largest puzzles are only 15x15 gives me pause

I love picross but I can barely handle the 15x15 over here.

Yeah Picross e is a good game, but it does get a bit difficult towards the end of the main game mode.

Is there any way to turn off the auto-correct? If I tap the wrong square to fill it in, I get a time penalty and the game automatically changes it to an X for me.

I don't want that...I'd rather be able to make mistakes and find them later. (Especially since it's easy to accidentally tap the wrong square.)

I can't find a way to turn it off though.

@Phil - I'm not sure, but man would that option be nice. My touch screen calibration's out of whack, and it seems like I get 4 time penalties per puzzle as a result.

@Phil&Birdman Thats the difference between normal and free mode is free mode doesn't track mistakes

Rats. Free Mode doesn't have that many puzzles. Oh well, thanks! Now I know.

I just finished the Mega Picross puzzles included in Picross e3 and I'm here to say those are seriously fun. Whole new challenge. Absolutely loved it.

I hope it's OK to bump this old thread. Thought it was better than creating a whole new thread just to say how much I enjoyed Mega Picross.

Expert mode also uses that format.

I really enjoy them. I finished the first and saw the third without realizing that 2 was out as well so I'm simultaneously playing them. I really love them. Really fun.

Tbh the new mega version in picross e3 is really annoying. Finished all but 5 and can't get myself to finish the last 5 as well.
Might end up being the first picross game i will never finish.

I haven't gotten around to doing them all yet, but I've actually been quite enjoying the Mega Picross.

I thought they were ok as well at first. Then i got to the 15x15 grids and then they started to really annoy me. Did 5 of those and the stopped. Was more of a pain to finish those then fun.

Edit: Perhaps i will try to fight my way to the end just to finish it but my motivation is near zero.

I completely agree. I have just 2 more Mega Picross puzzles to finish to 100% the game, but they are just annoying and not fun.

Browsing NOJ's website, and it seems Picross e4 was released recently there, so it looks like we're not quite done with these.

Well i managed to finish all but the last Mega Picross. The last one i really do not get.
Well gonna wait for a complete walkthrough and just fill in the blocks to get to 100%.

I love Mega Picross. You have to figure out the logic. Figuring out where you can't place a block is often very important. None of the puzzles in e3 require any guessing or trial and error.

One thing they didn't make clear in the instructions is that non-mega blocks cannot be adjacent to other non-mega blocks in rows or columns with mega hints. So, for example, if you have a pair of non-mega 1 hints, those two 1 blocks cannot be adjacent to each other (again, this only applies to rows or columns with mega hints...normal rows or columns work just like other picross puzzles. I hope that helps a little (if I've explained it clearly enough). If you study the example rows in the instructions, you'll figure out what I'm talking about.

Finally managed to finish the last Mega Picross. Don't know why but suddenly it was rather easy. Perhaps i needed a small break from the game.

Now i want Picross e4.
