@k8sMum: Well I the only games I have played on the 3DS are DS games and VC games I have yet to crack open my copy of Starfox 3DS to see if its worth it to play on 2D like you said. But I can tell you this I played OoT at Target the other day on 2D and I enjoyed it just the same. In truth it all depends on you and how you choose to enjoy it. I mean in truth if you buy it and enjoy smashing it to bits with a hammer well than more power to ya.
The 3D does hurt my eyes, almost as soon as I start playing a game or watching a movie. I simply play with it off, I never really saw it as a major selling point for the system anyway.
Just because you can see it fine doesn't mean it's a myth that was created by people who just want to complain about Nintendo.
I didn't get the 3DS for the 3D it was just a nice little bullet point. I got it because I saw how awesome Kid Icarus looked and also because I kinda half wanted to get a DSi for a while but ended up skipping it because it lacked a Virtual Console.......
I don't know if I'm alone in doing this but most of the time I leave the 3D on but when I'm playing a long game I generally don't. Mostly because crosstalk gets annoying but I'll turn it off if I'm playing it late at night because it's just a bit more uncomfortable. With OoT I played most of it with the 3D off....... except when I got into a new dungeon or when I wanted to admire Hyrule Field. That was mostly because of the gyro controls getting in the way and didn't have anything much to do with "eyes being sore".
Actually the 3DS does hurt your eyes...the first half hour you use it. If you constantly play with the 3D mode on, or if you do what idea and slowly turn the 3D on and off to let your eyes get used to it, then you can play in 3D without it hurting your eyes.
