Topic: Nintendo translates currencies

As most people know 1$/€/£ is the same on eshop but did you know that countries that use 150 kr currency instead of 15$/€/£ currency get 0.8 $/€/£ on eshop! This means 8 kr though. But still that means 5$ become 4$.

Edit: added "on eshop" after "$/€/£"

First of all, $1 does NOT equal €1, and €1 does NOT equal £1, etc. Exchange rates are in constant flux, and two currencies never are directly linked in price to one another in the fiat currency system most governments use. Naturally, this does mean that, relative to their current exchange rates, games priced similarly in different currencies can actually cost less or more than in a different region. There are numerous reasons why this is the case; I won't go into details, but a country's wealth distribution, manufacturing/distribution costs, and development/licensing fees all play into it. If you're upset that you feel Nintendo is ripping you off by charging you more for games in your region (that's what I think you're getting at; your post makes little sense to me), vote with your wallet and import a 3DS from a different region and but games in that region's eShop.

Actually I live in a country where it is 8 kr so I am happy, but just think that other in america, uk and such should know.
I dont mean real life currency but take mighty switch force, which is 6 $/€/$ but in my country it is 48 kr (which equals 4.8 /$/€/$)

Unfortunately your argument is defeated by the fact that you claim that 48 kr = 4.8 $/€/$. This doesn't make sense, since 4.8 $ =/= 4.8 €. Every country's monetary values will be different.

So, beyond your inherently wrong claim about currency equivalents @Bazly and I have pointed out, you're simply stating that eShop titles in Norway (where it says you're from in your profile) cost less than in America/Britain/the Eurozone? All right then, good for you. Here's a video of my favorite thing about Norway (beyond all the scenic pictures I see of it on Reddit). Putting it here makes about as much sense as everything you've said here, at least.

Norway is by far the most expensive country I've ever visited, I'll be really surprised if games are cheaper there, that would mean you could get a new e-shop retail game for less than a mcdonalds happy meal

And I am not saying they are equal, I am saying that Nintendo is putting 8$ and 8€ on the same game when the game should cost less € then $

Why? Britain/Europe's wealth distribution is far more equalized than America's, and with the other services European countries provide their citizens for free that the American government doesn't pay for (health care comes to mind most prominently for me in this case), Europeans have more disposable income than Americans. So, they can (and do) pay more for video games. If Europeans couldn't or didn't want to pay the prices they pay for video games, Nintendo would adjust their prices accordingly to maximize profit. Of course, that is an oversimplification and presumptuous on my part; I have no clue if the average European has more disposable income than their American counterpart, and I'm certain other factors (manufacturing and shipping, etc.) play into their higher prices. But, saying that Nintendo and other video game publishers should lower their prices and, therefore, their profits, simply to compete with a different market makes no sense. As I said before, if you don't wish to pay higher prices for your video games, vote with your wallet and import another region's 3DS.

Okay sorry didn't think that would come into play, but shipping have nothing here to do! I am talking on eshop but tax may come into play if Nintendo include tax in their games on eshop.

Nintendo always ties the eshop prices to the rrp in the country.... eshop prices should be lower and Nintendo and developer actually loses money by charging the same as retailers which gives incentives for people to go for physical. However there is this notion that they can't anger local retailers becaues they need them to put the hardware on peoples hand..... I don't buy into that theory but that's the notion

Here's why. YOU may follow the industry fairly closely, keeping track of release dates, etc., but the majority of Nintendo's customers don't. These are the casual gamers Nintendo courted so successfully last gen with the DS and Wii, and who have since moved on to gaming in areas like Facebook and iOS/Android. Nintendo needs them to buy their systems in order to be successful, so they need a strong presence in their minds to get them to buy a 3DS or Wii U over an iPad or other device. Commercials on TV, sections of physical ads and stores dedicated to Nintendo products ... these do influence numerous consumers' spending habits. If Nintendo undercut retailers by offering their products below MSRP on the eShop, retailers could remove Nintendo's products from their stores, and then Nintendo is hosed. So, eShop prices (especially retail downloads) are artificially high so they can be competitive with retail stores.
