Topic: New game: SteamWorld Dig for the 3DS

Yeah I downloaded this and it's bloody awesome. More power and money to the indies... Image Form, show these flip flopping so called AAA devs how to make a fun game

You can apparently beat this game within 4 hours according to a handful of guys who took the plunge. 4 hours for €9,-? No thanks.

I am interested but need more information. I went to the eshop to see if there was a video and there was none. I will wait for the reviews and make my choice then. Otherwise it does look rather good.

D/L the game and have put about an hour into so far, and I'm really enjoying it! Will post more impressions later today. One question tough, why isn't there a video on the eShop page for the game? I always find that weird. I'm sure there are some people who don't keep up with gaming news online, and their only intro to this game would be on the eShop, but with no video it's hard to make a decision on whether you want to buy it. Just my two cents.

I would really like to know about the game's replayability - is there anything to entice you to just keep playing? When I hear "procedurally generated world or levels" I instantly think there must be a lot of replayability, but everyone is saying the game is only a few hours long...?

I really, really want to read some reviews. The game looks great but 9€ is too much to risk.

I really liked the look of this game so I took a punt and downloaded it.

It's very polished, addictive and very enjoyable. If you're not too bothered about exploration and digging around every inch of the map then yes, you may be able to rattle through it in about 4 hours. However if exploration isn't your thing then maybe this isn't the game for you.

I've played through nearly 7 hours and reckon I might be nearing the end in another hour or so but might spend another hour on top of that exploring and trying to dig up everything I can find.

There are a load of upgrades which are balanced really well with the amount they cost so even this far in there are still upgrades to get - this is something that few games get right so good on 'em.

Even if it does only take you 4 hours (though it should take longer) it's still good value at around the same cost of a cinema ticket. With more resources I'd be very excited to see what Image&Form could do next so I heartily recommend this game.

If there's anything anyone wants to know about the game just ask as I'll probably have it finished tonight.

Nice to see this one faring so well critically. When my wallet can afford to take another hit, I'll definitely be looking into this further. The game looks absolutely gorgeous.

@Corvid: Your post made me think twice. I love to explore in video games (if there's any point to it). Still going to wait for NintendoLife's review though.

I was waiting for a review of this but i caved as soon as it was up for d/l lol. I've played about 6 hours so far and its been fun the whole time. Not sure about replayability though, this does seem like the perfect game to have some kind of dlc for extra mines to explore or something.

@Emblem I was thinking of DLC too actually... but I don't think there'd be any point personally.

Hopefully Image & Form make a good earning out of this game so they can make a sequel and branch it into a different setting.

So far this game is incredible! I'm currently on the 3rd mine and it's getting more and more interesting. I think this would be a good game for Quick Runs or Limited Health Runs... it's so addictive, I don't want it to end! D:

It got a perfect 10/10(platinum rating) at Pocket Gamer UK. Don't think it will get a bad rating here either. The game looks great! Think I'm going to download it soon, and I'm looking foward to play it:)

I think that's a good value. It extrapolates to 24h for a $54 game. I believe that is pretty good, ain't it?

@DarkCoolEdge There is no video in NA. As for lenght of game. I've played all of 10 mins but can tell this will be no 4 hour game for me.

I will be getting this for sure But im waiting till I beat some of the Piling up Backlog I have. Hopefully when im ready to get it, it's on sale if not oh well! SALES RULE!
