If I get a different 3DS and wish to transfer my games to it, is it possible to accomplish this if we have multiple memory cards? The only way I can envision this working is if I purchase a large memory card, format it to the new system, and then transfer the old ones via my computer to the one new 32gb card. I am unsure if this will work however, as the old memory cards are coded for the old system. Will I then have to purchase two large memory cards, transfer the two old cards to one of the new ones, and then system transfer everything over?... Maybe I should just never buy a new system and never break the old one...
Also, if I transfer both cards to one 32gb card, how will it work if I eventually get a new system? Is there system data contained on the new 3DS' standard 2gb card that must be first transferred to the old system's 32gb card, or do I have to purchase a second 32gb card, format it in the new system, and then system transfer?
Come on Nintendo cloud data! We could really use you!...
If you have a 3DS, in the settings menu you can select '3DS transfer' which will then send all of your game licenses to your new 3DS, where you can then download them from the eshop. You might be able to first copy the games from the original 3DS's memory card and then swap it into the new 3DS once the licenses are changed over, but this will only save time from downloading.
That is the only way to transfer games over. If you are looking for a way to do it by taking data off one 3DS, selling it/breaking it/losing it, and then putting it on a new 3DS, it isn't possible. Both have to be working and in your hands.
Oh, I see. I didn't realize that simply transferring the game licenses was an option. Thank you for sifting through my dribble. Oh, and sorry if your eyes went crossed after reading that wordy diatribe.
