I've been checking more about this game and I'm really excited, knowing that there's pvp and that it's actually deep sold me on it. Besides, Pokemon needs some competition so getting these kinds of games is good for gamers in general, as the more competition there is, the more they need to improve to step up their game as long as people give the a fair chance instead of calling them rip-offs. Considering that MH has made a lot of reputation I have faith that most people will be open to this spin-off.
For those searching for alternatives for Pokemon keep an eye on this game. There's also LBX and Dragon Ball Fusions, which I found to be quite enjoyable and both games offer a unique and fun approach in terms of gameplay.
Yeah, haven't played too many "Pokemon clones" before, and when I have they were either pure crappy rip-offs (I think one of them was this gameboy one with robots), or free to play iOS game. (PocketMorty's was actually ok, it does get boring after a while though...)
But this...team up with your favorite MH monsters, or monsters that you've been fighting all those years...No to mention I found out that this is more open world-ish, unlike normal MH games where all areas are split up into multiple sections. Not sure how good the story is, and I haven't seen the anime so I don't know much. I do know that the final boss is actually an entirely new elder dragon, though. Makes me wonder if he'll ever make it to the main series.

@Joeynator3000 I honestly expect it to be "monsters are your pals and we gotta save the world/ battle to be the very best there ever was with the the edgy guy who doesn't like you and somehow messes up" story but if that isnt the case it would be a nice surprise. Still I try to enjoy stories for what they are and as long as the gameplay is fun I'm satisfied.
Yeah I really like the more undivided open world approach they are doing with this one and about the crappy game with robots you were talking about, was it medabots? Lol I kinda enjoyed the GBA one, but yeah, most of these games don't even come close to Pokemon in terms of quality.
@roy130390 Robopon. I did play the GBA sequel, it was fairly good since it took several more steps to distinguish itself from Pokemon. Shame the plot got Golden-Sunned, though.
All I remember is that stupid alarm thing was ANNOYING. xD
Didn't know it got a sequel, kinda figured it was one of those one-time "let's rip off of some game and leave it at that" games. xD

It seems that the game has a good balance between the monsters so that you can make a decent team with any kind you want, as long as you customize it in a way that is functional to your team. I'll probably make a team with Lagiacrus, Narcaruga and Rathian/Rathalos or Tigrex.
@roy130390 Thanks for the added suggestions for those two other 3DS games with similar play styles. I'll look into getting those two at some point this year now, along with Monster Hunter Stories.
Do you know any other titles with this kind of game play for 3DS?
@theepictorkoal No problem mate! Yokai Watch and Denpa Men are also similar, however I can't talk talk about the quality of those since I haven't played them. I suggest you to look for spoiler-free reviews to get a better idea of the gameplay so that you can compare for yourself and see which appeals more to you. LBX is definitely fun if you want some real time fights with robots, and DB fusions is the closest thing to experiencing the epic fights from the anime (with all the techniques from DB to GT, even the ones that never appeared again).
@roy130390 I actually already own both of those titles and have either completed or am close to completing the main stories of both. Though I actually haven't played either of them in over a year now because of a large 3DS backlog, they we're worth the purchasing prices at the time in my opinion. I'm aware that they have sequels that have also been released in English too.
LBX seems interesting enough for me to try for the reason you stated. I never really watched much of DB series, though it was recommended to me numerous times by friends. Oddly enough, it's usually playing the video games first (main series or spinoff) that is getting me more interested in different franchises nowadays, so this might be the right push.
I'm one of the few that's actually more excited for this than any other Monster Hunter
Just look at the monsters tha they added with the update: Teostra, Kushala Daora, and Rajang.
And the dlc ones: White Monoblos, Molten Tigrex, Oroshi Kirin and Glavenus.
And it was the very same date after all. Just shows it pays not to read too much into things. Stories will be a fun distraction while we wait for World.
@Tsurii I feel exactly the opposite. I really like that the monsters work apart from you and that each has a certain behaviour ( I think it can be slightly determined through different hatching if I remember correctly) and that the difficulty is higher than in pokemon games. When it comes to presentation it's really similar to pokemon, but considering that the customization is far better I'm enjoying it more than in pokemon games. The open map looks great and the ability to avoid confrontation is appreciated. The place is also full of resources, so getting items that allow you to level up a recently hatched monster or upgrades to armor are accesible since the demo.
Getting a good egg is really hard though (unless I'm not able to get the best one son the demo) since I've only been able to get slightly better eggs than the avegare one.
