Stupid Kirin quest isn't appearing, even though I did it once before. I almost went with Gammoth's armour, but chose to do Rathalos' armour instead for low rank. I've already had most of the materials, and I love the Attack Up bonus.
The Antekas (Anteka?) totally die. Smacked to the ground, carved, disappear. And the Moofas can be hit with a bladed weapon for a puff of fur animation to float off of them and a shiny of Moofa Fur or whatever drops. You don't specifically need to slaughter them. I can't quite remember the line correctly, but once you finish a certain Moofa Fur obtaining mission, the mission-giver will say something like "I hope you didn't kill any of those cute little things!"
I'll admit though, getting some Pelt or Raw Meat, then letting a poor Kelbi run off seems immensely cruel. The horns are one thing, but their skin and flesh... that's pushing it a bit far, man.
@Meowpheel Kelbis die in the Japanese version. It was changed in the localization starting in 3U due to the obligatory early-game kelbi horn quest and how most weapons can't stun them.
@CrazedCavalier Even earlier than, it started with Tri. However, even in the older games there's still a difference in stunning and ''killing'' them, with Tri even letting you get... Firedouse Berries (Tri was weird).
I've been having a bit of the Ace Cadet's supposed luck of late, first high rank Rathalos gives me a ruby, first HR Zinogre gives me a jasper, same with Lagiacrus and a plate, then a Sapphire the second time. And just today, just as I was about to curse failing to get a trunkspine from Gammoth in a group, he gives me his Ice Orb.
@meleebrawler I clearly remember killing Kelbis in Tri and having to use the lance's shield bash to stun them.
And don't remind about having to stockpile berries of different types for different blights.

@Joeynator3000 Yeah. 3rd gen high rank Agnaktor armor was pretty much THE lance set (razor sharp and constitution +2). Now... not so much.
Not exactly thrilled with 4th gen's de-emphesization of armor skills in general.

@CrazedCavalier Or we're just underestimating the impact of Tropic Hunter. +15 attack and +20 defence just for being in a hot area, as well as Heat Cancel (which includes damage taken from lava) AND an additional +10 defence for drinking a hot drink. In all, makes you VERY hard to kill in heated areas (of which there is no shortage of late-game) on top of a respectable damage boost. Polar Hunter is similar, but with a +5 attack for cool drinks instead. A bit less valuable, but still strong in the areas that benefit it.
At any rate, with a +5 Guard one-slot talisman and a two-slot weapon, I can get Guard +2 and gem in Evasion +1 so that it remains a solid guard lancing set, though personally I felt it was G Glacial Agnaktor that was the definitive lance set. Fittingly, Zamtrios armour in Generations is practically identical to Agnaktor, but with Polar Hunter instead.
@meleebrawler ....Agnaktor's armor sucks now...compare this to how it was in 3rd Gen. Not only the normal armor, but Glacial's as well (one of my favorites)...not only did it have Guard +2 but Guard Boost as well. The normal one had Constitution and Razor Sharp...They were basically the best armors to have for Lancers, now we get....Guard...that's it.
Eh, well I'm taking a break from this game again anyways...I don't know what they changed, but Seltas Queen is a pain to fight now. Didn't even have trouble with her in G-Rank in the last game...lol

Probably just the fact you're soloing her more (the fight is much more easily managed with multiple hunters multitasking), or perhaps the loss of OP mounting. On the plus side, it's much easier to tell when she has her water cannon charged up.
Agnaktor armour isn't ruined... just different. You also have to consider we're comparing high rank armour to G Rank; remember his old high rank armour with shudder Flame Aura? Skills in G Rank always end up leagues better than the ones before. But in this case, they had to limit the skills on it because of how potentially powerful Tropic Hunter can be, same with Astalos and Repeat Offender.
Even then... the skills you lament the loss of aren't that big of a deal in my eyes. Constitution is easily replaced by Dash Juice or, as @Tsurii pointed out, Adept style, which also potentially removes the need for Guard+. Razor Sharp is always very good, but less critical in a game without "purple sharpness to rule them all". And, with the advent of Absolute Evasion/Readiness, Guard Boost is even more situational than before.
Lol, Zamtrios pinned me down but just nudged me out of bounds into a different area as it did that, so I magically warped to safety. That partially makes up for all those times in MH4U when I mounted a monster that crossed the boundary to another area thus getting me of it.
