@CrazedCavalier Look, Narga needs that bite as a get-off me move, otherwise you have the Gore situation where you hug his legs and there's not a whole lot he can do to stop you. And no matter how big his hitboxes get, a well-placed adept evade can make them work to your advantage, same with Glavenus.
Myself, I'll be making Silverwind armour and his glaive coupled with Speed Kinsect 1 for ALL the affinity.

But for now, I've just completed my Lavasioth set, with Resuscitate, Guts and Adrenaline +2 for the ultimate risk-reward style.

@meleebrawler Of course it benefits adept; the problem is that the other three styles kinda get the short end of the stick.
The bite wouldn't be half as frustrating if the animation fit it more- say, if he quickly backed up and lunged forward. Plus, it's not like you can exactly camp Silverwind to begin with- it jumps around more and further than regular Narg.

Perhaps, but my point still stands: it's a quick interrupt move for hunters who linger too close. Just jumping away isn't that much of a deterrent from doing so, and if you ask me it DOES look like he's rearing back and lunging forward, it's a bit hard to notice due to it's speed and not as dramatic as Tigrex's longer version, but it's there.

As for Narga favouring adept more, well, it just enforces the mantra that there is no "best" method for every situation, those who stick to just one do so more out of a sense of challenge. Otherwise, it's in your best interest to be familiar with most of your options so that you're ready for anything.

Now, a report on my experience with a Resuscitate/Adrenaline combo; the Toadstool method was a bust because it's just too short, but I also learned that it activates with blights and even Element Resist Down, so it's safe to assume that pretty much any negative status you can think of that doesn't restrict your ability to attack will give you a nice +20 attack. This can even stack with Adrenaline, which got me over 240 with a level 5 Blackguard Charge Blade, which is approximately 160 normally. I can almost taste the fun the Frenzy will provide with this...

I just solo'd a High Rank Astalos... It was a fun fight, although it took me 23 minutes and I carted once. Is that any good, or is it really bad?

@Tsurii HR6, used Level 2 Cleaving Jaws (Dual Blades) with Aerial Style. Armour was Dreadqueen set with 46 def per piece.

@Latte The difficulty is actually due to weapon and armor stats; by endgame, your defense and weapon's attack power match mid G-rank stuff in 4U... while the game goes up to high rank.
Same thing for low rank weapons and armor- by the time you hit high rank they'll be as powerful as 3u's/4u's mid-high rank equipment.

@Tsurii I figured the Resuscitate buff wouldn't last after curing the frenzy, but you still get an affinity buff to compensate, with the possibility of a consolation prize in keeping the attack buff if you fail to overcome it, AND it's still pretty much the only "negative" status you can deliberately infect yourself with. Though in this case, the frenzy resistance skill is an alternative if you want more affinity instead.

If you mean the skill Resentment for boosting attack while recovering, sounds nice, but I have no intention of farming boring, carve-less Nakarkos's base form.

Don't forget that Adrenaline +2 also provides a large defence boost (as does the weaker +1, but that by itself is fairly pointless), and the Lavasioth armour also provides Guts to resist a surprisingly strong hit.

@Latte It's much harder to pinpoint a "best" weapon with all the optimization options at your disposal, but for raw power, the Striped Striker (Tigrex) is a good bet.

Are you sure that doesn't just count as a "good" status ailment? Resuscitate only works with bad, and if an affinity-boosting frenzy cure isn't considered to be so...

Got my school computer back which means I have a webcam at my disposal which means I can start posting pics of armor sets.
Here's stuff for the Uniqlo Astalos set that just dropped:

https://s20.postimg.io/9tzo19j59/Uniqlo_Astalos_2.jpg
https://s20.postimg.io/glq34484t/Uniqlo_Astalos_3.jpg
A lot of it re-colors:

The hipster look and headphones really give me Scalebound vibes.

And secondly, since the only place I've seen pics of the Astral armor is in a video thumbnail, here it is!

And once again, it's re-color friendly:

Favorite looking set in the series, and I've gemmed in evasion+2 to make it a decent Striker SA set.

...Is it just me and my weird self, or does anyone else enjoy being flung across the map by Astalos? lol

@CrazedCavalier You can't use Miiverse?

@Joeynator3000 Got banned over a year ago and have an OG 3DS. Potato cam is the only way to go for me.
And I second Astalos being a fun fight.

Do you enjoy getting the same fling from a Rajang's bulked-up punch rush?

I haven't fought Rajang in this game yet...I don't plan on fighting him anytime soon either. lol
Pretty sure I'd just be more infuriated with him than anything else anyways, had to quit MH4U for a while multiple times because of him. lol

@Tsurii Can confirm that Aerial SA trivializes Kirin, at least; its whole body is a mounting zone, and it's head takes a ton of damage. Imagine Rajang would go down similarly.

So...Hero Shield + Fortress Walls = near invincibility

Pretty op stuff and great for weapons and arts with long windups because you don't get any knockback either. If you can get hero shield, earplugs and tremor res on a set with disgustingly high defense you can probably walk through 80% of the attacks in the game without as much as flinching XD

I KNEW IT

@Joeynator3000 For me, it's his cousin Lagiacrus that's not giving them up... somehow I got about 4 in relatively short order (they can be carved), same with Glavenus.
