@Meowpheel And what does Garuga do 90% of the time when not close to you? Run up to you (damaging or otherwise) then attack. By moving away when it does this it should consistently miss anything it tries to hit you with, without even having to evade if your mobility is good enough.

Basically, it's easier to let him approach you than the other way around.

I discovered something amazing. When selecting the quantity of an item, it's possible to press Right to instantly get the max number instead of pressing and holding Up.

That's gonna speed me up considerably when I'm preparing for a quest using a Bowgun.

Item sets are a huge time saver.

Yes, I could do with looking into item sets sometime.

I like them because you don't even need to do anything else. Just select the item set you want and you get the missing items and deposit the unneeded ones.

I even keep an empty one, to prepare for gathering quests.

I keep forgetting about sets in general....which is funny and irritating when I keep forgetting to change styles/arts. xD

Finally using sets....about time, lol...
Not sure when I'll finally take on Amatsu, trying to finish upgrading stuff, which is being a pain in the butt. (need 3 Chammy gems...and a soul orb from Nakarkos...)

The XX news has made me get back in and build Hellblade Glav's SA as well as max out my Dreadking set.
I now have the timing required to jump off of Glavenus' tail during it's tail spin. First did it by accident, then did some practice. I've actually cut off it's tail mid-spin like that once (Aerial SA is amazing).

....So what's the deal with Amatsu then? Because I tried fighting it today after fully upgrading everything. I was doing pretty well, until she went into her second phase. No matter how many times I've hit her, SHE, WOULD, NOT, DIE. I was being very aggressive during the battle, I did faint a couple of times, but I was really feeling like I was taking her down very soon.

....I ended failing the quest due to running out of time. By the way her 2nd phase came in about 25 minutes....WTF? :/

Hyper Zinogre was bugging me. I failed the quest from it killing me, but it was annoying because every one of the 3 defeats involved it attacking me when I was stunned.

I'll give it another try later using my Switch Axe instead of the Gunlance. I'm much better with the Switch Axe for fast monsters like Zinogre, but it's got a poor element for Zinogre compared to my Gunlance.

I'm ok with the heat gauge, though I've never used it before the gauge was added. However, I'd prefer it if the audible cue that indicates the gauge unlocking is slightly louder, as there's far too many times when I accidentally overheat it straight after it becomes unlocked.

Same here...also a warning that it's about to unlock....can't tell you how many times I did a Full Burst RIGHT when it unlocks...Then it overheats, ugh.

Hyper Zinogre gave me lots of trouble and took me several attempts to defeat it, though that's partially because I was using a thunder weapon as well as armour weak to thunder. At least I got all the Hyper Zinogre Shells needed, but I still need one super rare Zinogre Jasper.

Guys, just... use artillery skills if managing heat is so hard. Even just Novice (plus Felyne Bombardier) is fine. Or just stick to orange since that gives you comparable damage to past games despite lower motion values, with red actually being quite a bit stronger. Only yellow is weaker.

The change came for two reasons: 1. To stop players from getting cheesy Wyvern's Fires at the start of every battle. Sure, it wasn't as egregious as Charge Blade's block->ultra burst, but it's still an oversight.
And 2, to combat an issue that has plagued the Gunlance since the dawn of time: that of it's thrusts almost always being better than shelling for damage, especially late-game. Admit it, if you had your way you'd almost never use those shells except to blast something really tough. And if you're gonna play like that, well... why don't you just use a Lance instead? Heat isn't a perfect solution to this, but it definitely helps set the Gunlance apart, and encourages a more diverse playing style.

@Joeynator3000 if you used that Hazy Caster you said you would, did you actually see Amatsu get poisoned? With my Le Sursis and Silverwind set I was able to cut that time down to half, though I'm not sure if the bigger contributor was dragon element or Critical Boost (plus Energy Charge on Aerial).

@Tsurii Did 4U's G-Rank Stygian (or heaven forbid, Apex, though he was one of the easiest) not scratch that itch?

Not only was I using Chammy's Glaive, but armor as well....and got Status Attack up to +2. (....15....whatever, lol)

I think I poisoned her several times, so I don't what happened. :/
Also...Apex Zinogre being the easiest? Wat? Seregios and Gravios are the easiest. xD

@Joeynator3000 Oh, then it's no secret. That glaive is just really weak. I can at least get Bludgeoner on it with my awesome talisman, but... generally speaking, you sacrifice a lot of damage output going the status route.

Perhaps I should've specified that it's uncharged Apex Zinogre that's very easy. But the true easiest Apex overall is likely Tidal Najarala (such a bizarre choice). Seregios still has powerful bleed-inducing dives and Gravios only becomes easy once you've broken his legs.

Tidal gets very annoying for me....Seregios seems to be easiest for me. As for Gravios, I main the Glaive, so it's very easy for me to mount him like crazy. It's pretty much over once I break his back.
....And now I can't even kill Alatreon, failed the quest from, you guessed it, running out of time. -.-
Welp, I hate the game again now...putting it away.
