********RECENT ESHOP SALE MAKES THIS QUESTION RELEVANT**********
I like this game. I have the cart and play it regularly. If I bought the download version, Ide always have it with me (rather than swap carts). I think I can transfer my game data from cart to download and never miss a beat.
Monster Hunter 4 is coming out in a year-ish, when that game comes out, 3 kinda becomes obsolete rt? Then Ide have both versions and NOT be able to "sell the downloaded version.
Does one get the download version and then just "play it" for nostalgia or just keep the cart for the time being?
well you already have the game and when MH4 comes out you'll never want to go back to underwater battles(I know I won't) so, no reason to buy MH3U again.
goodbyes are a sad part of life but for every end there's a new beggining so one must never stop looking forward to the next dawn

You could more than likely sell the first cart for most of or all of the money. Just depends - I like to have the stuff I like the most as downloads for convenience and then I don't swap carts that much or have to carry them around.
If you intend to play it from now until Monster Hunter 4 release treat it as a monthly convenience fee and decide whether you think it is worth it.
