I do that sometimes...(hitting the brakes) But yeah, never heard of dodging it, only dodged it once in my life on the DS version. Also, its even hard to do that sometimes when you're way ahead of everyone else. :/
Well if you're that far ahead you can probably take the hit and still remain in 1st. But yeah, I get what you're saying. BTW to dodge a blue you need a mushroom. Just use the mushroom when the shell is right above your head and about to start moving down. It's important to wait essentially as late as possible to use the mushroom. Try searching "mario kart 7 blue shell dodge" on youtube, someone named vatipaa made a great vid showing a successful dodge.

It's not exactly that simple to let someone else take the hit. You have to do it before the blue shell fires, or not long after, I'm not exactly sure yet. Several times I've seen people come to a complete halt, and I just laugh and pass them up because I know the blue is already targeted at them. There are timing issues I need to figure out, but I seem to have intuited it well enough for now.
I guess no one has ever heard of blue shell dodging eh? And if someone has a blue shell and you don't have a mushroom, just hit the brakes, let the first person to pass you take the hit, and go back to first. It's that easy. Also I too prefer karts with good acceleration even if it means sacrificing some speed but for a different reason; I can make up the speed difference with mini-turbos but there is the added bonus of faster recovery from any type of hit. Karts with good acceleration also usually have superior handling as well.
Not really. If your in first when they shoot it, your screwed. What you can do is slow down, and keep close the people behind you, so when you get hit, they do as well.

Doesn't work. I only got that in Double Dash. Blue shells have gotten smarter since then

The thing to do to avoid it is drop to second as soon as you see someone has the shell. Not always possible though. Most of the time I keep driving like normal as everyone slows down to avoid the blast radius. And by all means necessary stay away from edges or you will slowly roll off.
I have seen one match where the blue shell flew at the 1st place person, then that person crosses the finish line, then the shell turns around and hits the next person.

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.
@Tare@NintyFan@Iz20XX Actually the target is determined when the shell gets within a certain distance of first (I think it's when it starts to fly but I'm not sure). If you hit the brakes before it gets within that distance you'll be fine even if the shell has already been launched. I know this because I've done it before; once I happened to notice just as a blue shell was launched and I immediately slammed on the brakes. DK then passed me and got hit even though I was clearly in first when the shell was launched. However, because the shell has a fairly wide radius for finding its target and it moves so fast, there is usually little to no time to let someone pass you after the shell is launched, which is probably why it didn't work when you tried it. If the launcher is close to you then you essentially have no chance to stop after the shell is launched and what you said is correct. But on some of the longer tracks, if the launcher is far behind you then there's still time to slow down even after the shell has been launched.
My favorite tracks are Rainbow Road and SNES Rainbow Road BTW. Excluding those my favorite track would probably be Wuhu Loop. My favorite retro track would be DS Airship Fortress.

Melody MotorWay and Koopa City are my two favourites from the new courses. From the old ones it has to be SNES Rainbow Road and.... Daisy Crusier I suppose. But for the first time in any Mario Kart I think I love almost every course. The only one I dislike is Luigi's Raceway/Course or whatever it is (I can't remember the name) I mean, could they have picked a more bland stage? Otherwise all the other stages are 9's or 10's for me, I really hope that future Mario Kart's continue the high quality set by Seven!
I'm starting to get a bit annoyed at Critic scores. Mario Kart 7 is (in my opinion) the best 3DS game yet. Ocarina of Time and SM3DL are great, but Super Mario 3D Land was a bit short and Ocarina of Time, well, it was a very well polished remake. Don't get me wrong, both these games deserve high scores, but SSFIV? SSFIV is severely lacking in content, and whilst the online is easy to navigate, it's not exactly the kind of thing to make you Whoop with Joy. Yet, Mario Kart 7 lies on a metascore of 84, whilst SSFIV takes 85. SM3DL and Ocarina of Time take a well deserved 90 and 94, but, why isn't MK7 up there with them? I honestly can't see why so many critics dislike Mario Kart, in my opinion it's basically a flawless game. Is there something I'm missing here? Why the hate for Mario Kart?

@MiracleBlaze. Since when equals an 8,4 with hate? It's a great score. Honestly I think it's too high. An 8 is my grade. I think it's absolutely ridiculous that you can get shot down while in the air with a shield. Such a stupid decision.
