Special Cup looks awesome. That is one crazy Rainbow Road! I am relieved to find out that the brief clip from the Japanese site actually showcased what was by far the most boring part of the track. The rest looked appropriately maddening.
I think this is the first time we got an ice level in special cup, too? Pretty neat. I like the ice levels usually.
Also, I had wondered if the leaf would be a first place item. Now that I see it though, I realize it doesn't seem that useful. It can defend against items, but only for a limited time, whereas you can trail any other first place item for as long as you need. Not that I'm complaining. Anything to make staying in first more challenging without simply adding more blue shell-like items is fine by me.
I think all my (few) reservations about the game are gone now after having seen some complete races.
I don't know how to feel about only 1 lap on rainbow road. If it is like just 3 tracks put together then I can't complain. I'm gonna wait till I have the game to see the special cup. Don't want to spoil it.
I was skeptical about the one lap thing when they announced Wuhu Island, but after seeing Rainbow Road, I think it will be fine. It looks like at least two tracks' worth of content, to me.
Those are hands down the best Rainbow Road and Bowser's Castle tracks I've ever seen before. I especially like the way the glider is used at the end of Bowser's castle. Also I like the rotating star "tunnel" thing in RR; I wonder if you can go completely upside down in that due to the low gravity. Oh, and they decreased the recovery time for getting hit with a blue shell or bob-omb, plus you don't lose your item anymore. Yay! Mario Kart 7 has the best level design of any MK game ever. Period. And there are two Rainbow roads You have to see what they did to Koopa Cape! I like how the track shakes in the retro Rainbow Road, when Thwops pound the ground! Blue Shell looks HUGE when travelling on the ground o.0

I didn't play the game But in one of the videos the uploader (or a commenter) said they do, and they give little boosts when you get them and you use them to buy parts

What do you mean vs. mode isn't in? I'm pretty sure they said you can play locally. Does that mean you have to play grand prix to race locally? I hated that in FAST Racing League. Source, please?
