Stopped working about 2 months ago. Clicks perfectly fine, with no stick, but will not work, no matter how many times I try. R button on the other hand, works perfectly. I have tried putting my mouth over entire button and blowing (being careful not to get any spit in it) and it started working fine, but then whenever i pressed it once, it acted as if i was holding down the button. Then it stopped working entirely. I also tried the toothbrush method, that failed to work as well. I've had the 3DS for almost 2 years now, so the warrenty is up, and Im not entirely sure I want to send it in just yet (need to scrape up some money)
If anyone could at least try to help, I would very much appreciate it, thanks
Try blowing into it - as in, put your lips around the L button and blow into the 3DS. Should work then, albeit you might need to do it pretty often.
I'm not sure what's causing it, but I suspect it's dust and dirt collecting under it and interrupting the contacts... but it might be something else. Who knows.
Most likely it is dirt or dust that causing the problem. It is the most common problem. After all the button is digital instead of analog. Digital only be on or off while analog can be range of completely off to all the way on.
DO NOT BLOW INTO IT LIKE THAT. The "spit" isn't the only moisture, your breath has steam in it as well, not to mention you can inadvertently cause damaging dust to move into a portion that's worse than non-responsive L button.
You want canned air, and check out how to remove the button covering on a website, it's not that complicated for the L and R buttons.
Friend list is full, I will be clearing room for Bravely Default soon though. Colors! 3D Gallery, My Blog
