We weren't talking about actual gameplay though, really, just concepts. In a way. I may have said that badly. The point is, small changes in video games greatly affect many thing.

...like small attack or jump or speed changed in Smash could equate to someone winning/losing a match in SSB, small modifier changes in KIU could change the outcome of a mission or online battle.

I said I wrapped up the discussion, but it's tempting to reply, so I'll just reply to the post where you posted the laughing man

That's your experience - just like we had different experiences regarding people using "banned" weapons. In most cases, if I don't get a OHKO with my Black Club, I just ensure the kill with a Mega Laser. Therefore there's no definite answer to the importance of these small changes.

DCS: A more fair comparison would be if the only differences between Brawl and Melee were range for projectiles, shield defense, movement speed, making attacks do more damage, and so on. That's not true, though. The PHYSICS are the main differences between the two games.

The changes are tiny thats why a lot of casual players don't see Brawl as worse but as soon as you try playing it competitively you can see how big of a difference there is and the effect said changes make, taking away Modifiers in KI:U is basically the same thing people who play it for a laugh won't care but people who play it competitively will immediately tell the difference once again a change doesn't have to be big to have a huge effect on the gameplay.

...you're still comparing the two's actual gameplay. KIU doesn't even really have physics, not the way SSB does, at least. In SSB, you're throwing, and jumping, and flying, and falling, and stuff. In KIU, the most physics comes into play is that, uh... you're attached to the ground. There are seriously only a few times in the game that you're not, and even then, it's mostly because of jump pads and falling off ledges in online battles; nothing that really requires much physics. Just a little bit of programming compared to Smash, where they need to factor in weights and jumping ability and gravity and bends in the planet (well, in Smash 4, that is) and so on. I guess there's also Sky Jump, but you're the one not giving it a fair comparison. The point is, little changes make big differences, and that goes for mods. Which is why they're important.

since the tiny changes in brawl are, as you stated, important

DCS: Yeah, that's my point as to why they're not comparable. I'm glad we agree on this

TrueFace

Wow. I can't believe you guys are getting so bent out of shape over a theoretical discussion concerning a video game. Is it really so hard to have a decent conversation without resorting to elitism, passive aggressive comments, and patronizing images?
This place used to be different...

I agree with True Hero. I'm not gonna bother much more.

The difference between weapons with modifiers and weapons without modifiers is nothing like the difference in physics between Brawl and Melee. A more fair comparison would maybe be the free subs and the best subs in Steel Diver Sub Wars. I use weapons without modifiers all the time

So weapons with modifiers are better then weapons without and eclipse them in strength and if two people of equal ability fought the one with modifiers would win pretty much every time.

Equal skill doesn't mean they'll just trade blows until one of them dies. Also, no modifiers = less points per kill. It's a little bit of luck, too. Just like sports

So then its nothing like freemium subs vs premium subs in Steel Diver Sub Wars then, make up your mind.
