@Knuckles - Hey buddy! Long time no see. I know what you mean about the lack of free time, though.
You know what would have been a cool feature in KI:U? Custom weapon names. It'd be awesome to be able to give your favorite weapon its own special title. Other players could see your weapon's title and vice versa. An option to toggle viewing nicknames would be a necessary addition due to the inevitable misuse.
Another neat feature would be armor crafting. Being able to fuse excess weapons into fun, purely cosmetic gear for online matches would be really fun and would help distinguish players.
These seem like good ideas to me, though maybe I just play too much Team Fortress 2.

Equal skill doesn't mean they'll just trade blows until one of them dies. Also, no modifiers = less points per kill. It's a little bit of luck, too. Just like sports

That's the only difference I can think of - not getting more points for stronger subs. It's still a much more exact comparison than the difference between Brawl and Melee. Trading blows is a terrible idea in Sub Wars
I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you’re referring to as metagame changes, is in fact, game balance/metagame changes, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, game balance plus metagame changes. Metagame changes are not an end unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning game balance system made useful by the game engine and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by Sakurai.
Many users run a modified version of the game balance system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of game balance which is widely used today is often called “metagame changes”, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the game balance system, developed by Sakurai. There really are metagame changes, and these people are using them, but it is just a part of the system they use.
