Topic: FireEmblem Starter stats question

Okay, so Fire Emblem Awakening is my first Fire Emblem game, I know I have to pick one strength and one weak stat. Which stat(s) should be strong and which one should be weak? I prefer melee (up front in your face sword fighting) over the mage class, just FYI! Thanks! Sorry if there was a forum for this game, I went back 12 forum pages worth and still couldn't find a topic on FE...post it in here if there is one. I would love to follow up on the game discussion, maybe find some good tips.

I took Speed as my Asset, and Luck as my Flaw. I was unsure, as well, but found this very nice, concise explanation. If you don't want to read it all, skip to the end. But, it is a very nice read.

Serenesforest.net is the best website, ultimately, but it can be a little spreadsheet-ey, with little to no explanation for beginners. Which is why that article I posted is so good, for newer players.

If you're playing it on Lunatic, then pick Speed and Luck. Otherwise the enemies will out speed you easily

Thanks for the website recommendation that will help out ALOT!! This game is so HUGE!!!! I know this will have a lot of hours sunk into it. Also, Thanks guys for the overall recommendations being the same, it helps me know the priorities. Speed and Luck will be the two I go with.

Any recommendations on when to tackle the DLC for the added recruits and weapons?

I'd say strength as your asset, and defence as your flaw.
That's what I did.

Personally, I hate DLC. But, this is one of my favorite game series of all time, and I'm thinking of picking some of them up. I normally don't support such business practices, though. Here are two links for ya, that discuss, and detail them:

You can get the characters, and weapons for free, however, from the SpotPass function. Look into it, the next time you are playing the game under the Wireless tab. I have heard, however, the characters have different stats...and I do not know what happens when you already have a free version of a character, and buy the DLC version of the same character.

I do! Nothing. The game seems to register them as unrelated characters, and I actually had free Marth pair up with paid Marth for awhile.

My SD Card with the game on it is just as physical as your cartridge with the game on it.
I love Nintendo, that's why I criticize them so harshly.

Get the money one (can't remember what it's called) as soon as you can, so you can afford to forge weapons. Also, you will basically NEED rouges and redeemers 3 eventually so go ahead and pick that one up for later. Lost bloodlines 3 is also very useful for grinding, but not needed. Other than that, you don't really need any of the others.

LOL! That's quite funny, but cool, nonetheless.
