I'm only at Chapter 13 (or which ever one it is where Henry joins). I don't like it as much as PoR or RD though. I definitely agree with @Happy_Mask on the characters not seeming very important. I honestly don't care much for ANY of my soldiers like I did in the others. Also, I find the map design so far to be pretty dull. (Not how it looks, but how it seems to always be a field, a few forts, and some town far away. I also feel like all the classes have lost their unique strong-points. (Mounts can't move after attacking, Pegasus Knights can't rescue people because of Pair Up) I'm really quite disappointed.

@SomeBitTripFan Pegasus Knights can't rescue people but their advanced classes can. Falcon Knights can use the rescue staff if I remember right, and Dark Flier's Galeforce skill allows them to move in kill someone, have the other guy pair up with them, and then move back to safety.
My SD Card with the game on it is just as physical as your cartridge with the game on it.
I love Nintendo, that's why I criticize them so harshly.
I wonder if Support conversations may be patched in the future.
I don't like how Anna, Say'ri, Flav, Basil, etc have limited supports. Or like what others pointed out with Chrom. I don't like that he doesn't even have Ricken as Support, when we learn in Ricken's conversations that he really wants to be Chrom's wingman or something like that.

No they won't. The game is pretty much done in Japan, so unless something new comes out there then I doubt we'll see any sort of fix. However, they do have a set of "Bonds" DLC chapters that apparently feature additional conversations(not sure if they're supports or not).
I agree that they f***ed up making some of the supports with some characters so limited. I can kinda see why Anna can't have any romantic supports wiht anyone but the Avatar(since her child would just be Anna Jr.), but not having more non-romantic supports with more poeple is just dumb. Same with Say'ri, Flavia, and Basilio. And don't get me started on the spotpass characters....
The Bonds DLC isn't new supports but you get a bunch of new conversations, including Spotpass characters. (Spoilers) For Example Emmeryn get's to have a short conversation with Gangrel.

I'm not sure if your new to Fire Emblem or not, but in the previous games there was a command called Rescue. It is like Pair Up, but had negative effects on a character. One unit, that had to weigh more than the other, would go over to a unit, pick them up and protect them at the cost of speed while carrying them.I don't know if you understand what I'm trying to explain, but put simply, it helped when the RNG looked unfavorably upon you. Also, with the mounted units, in previous games you could run in and attack an enemy within your move limit, attack, and them move your unit based on the remaining spaces they could move without any help. Look up one of the previous games to see them in action.

You're making me miss old Fire Emblem. It's been awhile but I believe in the old games weapons used to have different weight values that would affect your speed or something if you carried too much.
Did any of you guys notice any negative effects for one character carrying loads of weapons into battle in Awakening?
He seems destined to be very unpopular along with the likes of Donnel. Though, I plan to pair Libra up with my fem avatar on my second playthrough. It will just make things easier for me.

Yeah, there's a lot from the older games that I miss. Most of the mechanics that Awakening borrows from earlier games are inferior to how they were implemented in thos earlier games. For instance, I prefer FE4's 2nd gen system to Awakening, since in Awakening the children tend to completely overshadow their parents. I also think Sacred Stones had a better class tree than Awakening, but that's mostly due to the greater variety in magic users(which is another thing that bugs me, since it feels like I have a lot of duplicate magic users).
@Shinpichu SS:
Mage=Sage or Mage Knight
Dark Mage=Sorcerer or Summoner
Monk=Sage or Bishop
Priest=Sage or Bishop
Troubadour=Valkyrie or Mage knight(I think that was it anyway)
A:
Mage= Sage or Dark Knight
Dark Mage= Sorcerer or Dark Knight
Priest= Sage
Troubadour=Valkyrie
Dark Flier
Tactician=Grandmaster
Demon fighter
A has more magic users than SS.

I know it technically has more classes that can use magic, but I was talking about stuff like the Bishop, Sage, etc. Dedicated magic classes. It just feels like I have a bunch of duplicate sages/dark knights lying around right now.
Also, Awakening has less variety in magic because it got rid of light magic and restricted the number of dark magic classes.
Also, would anyone else like to see the return of the 3rd tier classes from Gaiden/RD?
I'll just post anyway.
I'm 74 hours in, and have yet to beat the game. ^^' I've been doing a lot of Streetpass battles and most of my core characters are level 19 or 20 promoted.
But enough on that.
I paired up MU with Lissa, which wasn't the best option conversation wise, but then I got Owain. And he has green hair. Plus Armsthrift, Miracle, and Astra. Probably my best child unit so far. Then I got him married to Noire (who has Lethality and Tomebreaker) because, ya know, they're both pretty crazy, and now they're both unstoppable. XD
The new King Marth Spotpass unit's battle was fun, but fairly easy. He decided to go to the first level so I was only allowed 6 units. Then I forgot to give 2 of my units weapons, but I still defeated him without so much as a vulnerary.

For me, Awakening is the 2nd best Fire Emblem game ever made that I have played so far in terms of 'Overall Quality'. My absolute personal favorite Fire Emblem game is Radiant Dawn just because of how immensely ridiculously detailed every single little stat is. Radiant Dawn also has the best creative maps ever designed in the series with no map feeling the same at all!! Something that lacked in Awakening honestly.
Things I loved about Awakening were:
Support systems > created a variety of strategies & unique combinations to use in altering the tide of combat in many different situations. Very helpful and engaging.
Marriage System > Makes the game so much more interesting with having different children and keeps the game extremely replayable so you can pair up other potential couples.
Stat Calculations > Stats were still detailed but had less effect. So things took a little longer to really see a difference in character performance which makes sense in order to keep the game balanced enough for the support system. It also makes the game that much more rewarding in the long run after having your characters work harder to be better.
Difficulty > Perfect. If one plays through the game as though there were just the Campaign to work through, the game is very challenging but rewarding. If the game seems a little unfair at times though you can always do side quests, or challenge foes in order to level up more. Very nice options to keep the gameplay fun for all types of players.
Things I wish were in Awakening:
More stats > Biorhythm, Weapon weight, constitution, Fire>Wind>Lightning>Light>Dark Weapon Triangle, Fire effecting beasts, Lightning effecting Wyverns, Higher ground having advantage over lower ground.
More interesting Map Design > The maps were fine in FE:Awakening but allot of them could have been a bit more creative really.
A little longer main campaign > The length was fine but compared to most FE games Awakening felt like it had the least amount of main missions. Still it has more than enough extra content, side quests, challengers, DLC to keep coming back.
With all this being said I would still say Awakening is one of my favorite games ever made without a doubt. Radiant Dawn is just a bit more awesome overall any way I look at it.
Personally, FE10 is one my least favorites. The generic supports is one my main issues aside from a couple others.
Either way, I love the new Eirika artwork. One the best looking FE girls hands down.
I totally agree about FE10 having generic supports. But honestly for me when it comes to any video game series especially Fire Emblem it's all about the gameplay, in depth stats system, map layouts, and overall just pure fun while managing an entire party of soldiers! So for me the weak support system in Radiant Dawn was a minor thing because they really focused on gameplay. Something that Radiant Dawn had the best of out of the Entire series as far as I can tell. The only FE games I have yet to play are two of the SNES ones and remakes for the DS.
^I don't know, I think it was just the unfulfilled feeling I had when I finished FE10 that kinda made miss dismiss it. It's not a bad game by any means but there was some questionable choices here and there. The availability of certain characters was another problem. I mean a few characters would show up for a few chapters and wouldn't show up again till the endgame. Also, no Berserker class! D: I replaying FE9 atm, and plan to give FE10 any playthrough as well. So who knows, maybe my mind will sway a bit, lol.
There's 3 SNES games (all very good) and I suggest you give them all a try.
"This sword shall always be the sword of the oppressed. I swear it again now!"
Unless you suggest we learn Japanese and import a SNES+the game, it's illegal to do so. Why do you think the fanbase complains about not having the first 6?
