Just started revelations. This time I'll use the hero brand to make my avatar into a lodestar.

I haven't been using the children characters... at all. Will this hurt me at all? (I'm only playing on Normal/Classic, Birthright)

I've finished up through chapter 18 without much problem, just want to be sure.

Also, when it comes to the Hero & Exalt Bands (from the Before Awakening DLC), can they be sort of used as a level beyond a Master Seal form, or will it just change your class without reseting your level if you've already used a Master Seal?

Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)

For those that played through Conquest, what was the average levels for your units on chapter 25?
I've found myself switching which units I use several times, but this has led to some of them being relatively weak I think. One's I've used since I got them are around 15 or so and others I started using more recently are at around 10-12.
Also my Marth and Ike amiibo characters are at 32/33.

If I send one of my lower units out, there is a good chance they will get doubled and maybe taken out on the first turn of chapter 25. I do have a couple paralogues left that I can use for some extra training although one of them is difficult for my lower levelled units.

1. Not having children isn't going to hurt your playthrough. They're just for people who want extra units with the ability and stats of the married couple.

2. Using the brands will go the beyond the master form level limit. When using master form, the level cap is 20. The brand level cap is 40.

@Sticker, thanks.

BTW, I do have the child characters, I'm just not using them (outside of Kana and Selkie).

While I don't own Conquest, the best thing to do isn't sending your weak units to fight in story mode. Especially if it's late in the game. Best place to level them up is those paralogues or Boo camp. But I recommend Boo Camp because the paralogues are not repeatable.

@BurningSonic I know this is a late response, but there isn't really a huge benefit from re-doing the first 5 chapters unless you wanted to do the playthrough on a harder difficulty (ex. finished Birthright on Normal, but you want to do Conquest on Hard) since the higher difficulties are locked out depending on which one you do. So Lunatic would be locked out if you did Hard, and both Lunatic & Hard would be locked out if Normal was done. This also applies to Classic/Casual/Phoenix, both Classic and Casual are locked if it was done on Phoenix and etc.

@RR529 Not really, there's no need to worry about missing a unit unless you want to have every unit you can recruit in a playthrough.

The Hero & Exalt Brands raises the levels technically, but if you're expecting free extra levels without needing to use Eternal Seals then you'll probably be disappointed. For example, using a Hero's Brand on my lv 19 Xander will raise his level to 39, but he'll still cap at 40 like as if it was level 20.

edit: Didn't notice @Sticker's post when I was typing lol

Now keep in mind, I haven't played Fates myself, so I can't give you an opinion on what I think of it. That being said, I heard many people disliking it simply for changing dialouge and character personalities. I mentioned before that I think a rewritten localization is fine as long as the tone and story are generally the same and the new lines are well written. I really enjoyed Awakening's localization simply because of the liberties they took with the characters, making them more memorable than they would've been otherwise. But I heard people complain about meme references which I can understand if the dual had no other forms of humor to go along with it. But a few references aren't going to kill anyone, and honestly, it's no different than the pop-culture references in something like Animaniacs or Gravity Falls. So what do you think?

Unlike those shows, this is a game. A Fire Emblem game. So of course, people will get upset when they removed something important/heartful text that was in the Japan version is replaced with memes that no one barely cares.
Also to mention, the U.S version is honest terrible to be honest. The removed features, no dual audio, some of text is replaced with terrible stuff that I already mention(Saizo and Belkua C support says hi), and locked content. I'm just waiting for the the U.S homebrew patch so I can able to restore the removed features and text. And if anyone tells me that I'm pervert, creep, pedophile, some child, and virgin, you're wrong. I just want the game to be like it originally was, no memes, no lazy translations, and no removed content. Finally, what's wrong liking the petting feature? It's unique, and quite cute. It doesn't make me a weird person.

I wonder if the Eur version will suffer those changes.

I'm sort of hoping it's better localized than the NOA one, but I dunno.

Rumors has it the Europe ver might have the petting game. I wouldn't be very fond of it being in so.

I think Nintendo of Europe likes to be closer to the original Japanese dialogue and stuff as far as localisations go. I've been thinking for a while now that the reason (or one of the reasons) why we're getting it rather late is because they're doing their own translating and such instead of just using what NOA did; this is evident in some Awakening support conversations.

I hope this is the case. Satoru Shibata is a very cool guy, and I'm not saying he'd never censor anything, but he is not Treehouse. My personal opinion is that Nintendo of Japan would not make something that Nintendo of Europe would need to censor. It's not that I actually want the petting game, I just don't want those with certain ideologies telling me what I can and can't have. If Treehouse has been infiltrated, and now has a strong SJW/feminist agenda, that is a matter for Americans to either tackle or accept, but I don't think we in Europe should have to accept it.

@MetalKingShield: Shibata is very cool indeed his dance moves prove it Yeah I agree about the letting game it would be interested to have but not at all necessary! But I would really want that original Japanese it must be taking a long time as us Englishmen would be able to read US localisation but if they're doing it again for us then I'm more than happy to wait!

Well, I was thinking at first that I might be somewhat more edited than the japanese text. Case and point was the bit about Tharja and Nowi in the DLC conversation where Europe got the edited one which seemed silly.

Though for some reason, I feel this time the EUR version would be the better localized this time.

I've actually read some articles about the text difference, and in some cases the localized version is better. This mainly applies to the Avatar/Kana interactions and Leo/Forrest interactions so far.

I'll have to find them again.

Conquest is tough. I started a new game because I don't want people on my team to die.

I am only on Chapter 9. Something I don't understand yet is the difference between al the Seals and when a good time to use them is.

I am enjoying this game a lot but part of me still puts Awakening over this, mostly because I was more connected to the characters. I guess it's too early to find out yet.

Gridatttack

@Rexcalibr: Heart Seal is like the second seal from awakening which lets you change classes.

Friendship Seal allows an unit to change to the class the unit he achieved A+ with (In the case of the avatar, you only need to reach A rank support to get access tho that character class)

Partner Seal is like the friendship seals, except that you access that class with an unit he/she reached S support.

Eternal Seal allows you to increase the level by 5 (up to 99) to an unit who has reached max level (starting from level 20)

Do note that when you reclass, you keep the same level, and you cant reclass to a base class once you are in a promoted class.

Basically, you would want to use the Master Seals once your unit reaches level 20, since you can only reset the level once when you are promoting an unit in order to get more stats. You can circumvent this with an Eternal Seal, but those are really expensive (Pretty much means Ghostly Gold DLC grinding)

The Cemetery stage with the huge twigs in the ground and the purple poison swamp level in Birthright is really pretty. You can get it in a challenge so it's super reoccurring. I'm on Chapter 22 now yay almost done! I'm rushing to max my relationship with Hinata for no reason.

@Sticker I currently don't have plans on purchasing the DLC, but I was able to beat the chapter. I had to send one unit with decent defends up one way to block off a path and another to bait other enemies and I had few problems after that.
Maybe it's because my units are stronger now or it's the way I'm currently approaching the paralogue, but I'm not having much difficulty now.
