One of the biggest issues for the 3DS so far is the battery life. I read an article that the 3DS's battery is a "1:1" style for charging, meaning if you charge the system for a specific amount, the battery will typically last as long as it was charged. So if you charge it for 3 hrs it should last 3hrs.
However, playing countless hours in a gaming marathon means multiple charging, or even just leaving the system on AC. I recently purchased a wrist recharger from thinkgeek.com to help aid the solution a bit but I don't always have it readily available.
So what's the EASY BATTERY SOLUTION? Nintendo should release a higher capacity battery to buy separately, as Sony does withe PSP. The battery would be rather easy to install seeing as how Nintendo utilized the regular Philips screws. Sure Nyko has a larger battery, but if you purchase one, you cannot use any cases.

the nyko is a gem for me... but be aware youre voiding your warranty by installing it. and unless there is a waterproof or shock ultra resistant case, i still wonder whats the point of using them. i got it since the 3ds launch, i keep it in my pockets everyday, i even got it with pocket change. yet, it remains scratchless with absolutely no marks else than fingerprints or dust. anyway....
one nice trick i found is the usb cord from the ds that works also with the 3ds. i can charge it at work or in any usb ports from computers. there is also a car power cord you can get, so it can charge in your car if you have one. carry a power cable with ya and youll be fine most of the time.
Eh, I see your point with marathon playing, but honestly, not enough people do that kind of thing to really make a replacement battery a viable option. Just go with the Nyko, and, if you really (and I mean really) want a case, custom make it. Or you can just cut the back off of a regular case. Uglier, but who really cares about the backing? It's all about the front, bro. :3
(Unless you mean a carrying case, which I can't see being a problem with the Nyko)

I just keep my Netbook in my backpack with a USB charger in case I need it. No worries.
but what if your Netbook battery is drained, because of charging the 3DS o_O
On topic: I agree that Nintendo should release a better battery. so we don't run into any trouble with voiding the warranty... then again Nintendo warns about using screen protectors (even the once they licensed) .
I'm fine with the original 3DS battery. No really, I am.
me too. not such a big problem i think. the battery lasts very long in standby mode even with streetpass on. and i usually just play at home on my couch or on the toillet
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ You're all CRAZY! The 3DS isn't 1:1 you liar. It's 1:6. And my 3DS charges for 3 hours and lasts for nine(brightness on third level, power saving mode on) even with HARDCORE INSANELY INTENSE play, contrary to what Nintendo says. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
The battery does indeed suck. It runs out too quickly, I've actually had to stop myself from using the 3D when I'm not at home because it cuts through the power like crazy! Also not to mention when the 3D is on and your playing outside you can't see the 3D anyway unless you have it at the brightest setting and power-saving mode OFF! But even then you'll still probably see two images.
Yes you can get 3D anywhere, but only for about an hour or two. I think Nintendo should've put a bigger back on it just to house a bigger battery because the current one is utter crap.
I'm fine with the battery. I'll probably change my mind once the good 1st-party games start rolling out later this year, but until then, I can usually get through a day of 3DS playing before my battery dies.

That's actually 1:3 because 9/3 = 3, not 6. Secondly, the 2-3 hour battery life only applies when everything is set to max (brightness, spotpass, 3D, etc.)

I have a 4.5-hour plane ride next Sunday, with at least an hour of sitting around in the airport before the flight. There's no way I can play 3D games the whole time, and DS games will be a stretch, depending on the brightness level I need. So I'm also bringing my XL. These people who claim to get nine hours off of a charge? I don't know what kind of outlet they're using to charge their system. I get five maybe 5.5, depending on how much 3D and wifi I use.
