You really have to look at what games your wanting. If you don't like the look of the current 3DS selection, don't buy one. You can always buy one at a later date if you get a few games that tickle your fancy.
QUEEN OF SASS
It's like, I just love a cowboy
You know
I'm just like, I just, I know, it's bad
But I'm just like
Can I just like, hang off the back of your horse
And can you go a little faster?!
I would say graphics should be better than PSP. The only things I have to compare is OOT for 3DS and Monster Hunters for PSP, in this case PSP MH wins hands down, but OOT is a retextured port from N64. But the problem is the screen size, it is too small so it doesnt matter pretty much whether the graphics are better or not, you can hardly appreciate them. PSP screen is way bigger so everything "seems" to look better. Hopefully Nintendo will release a 3DS-XL sooner or later..
For the few multiplatform titles that have been released recently on both 3DS and PSP, the 3DS has come out on top in graphics comparison in every case.

What is the meaning of life? That's so easy, the answer is TETRIS.
I was in the same situation.....I had my doubts...But to be honest;the DS/DSi was extremely succesful, and when i walk into a gameshop, the DS-section is huuuuge!...The PSP-section...."excuse me,do u sell PSP games?''...and yes, there's a small section with about 20/30 PSP games. Both in Holland and England....And i doubt the Vita will change the market. But the Vita is an incredible sexy and powerful machine...So,i buy em both! But i will probably play the 3DS for 80% and Vita 20%.And don't worry about if Nintendo and third party developers will let the 3DS aside, and only focus on the WiiU....it really depends on the number of sales.Nintendo is always very good in selling their products by comercials, and of course the quality of their products are always of high standard! So,my advice is;BUY the 3DS!!!
Well, the fact of the matter is: 3DS is much powerful than the PSP. Basically, it can do things the PSP can't. Just as the Vita is much powerful than 3DS. Has nothing to do with opinions. Just facts. But anyways-
You have the list of games people have posted, but don't forget games on the eShop. You have a handful of great titles at great prices since you have a good selection of DSiWare games and original 3DSware, Classics and Virtual Console which consists of Gameboy/Color titles.
I would recommend Shantae Risky's Revenge, Cave Story, POP Island Games (these range for $2-5), Plants vs Zombies, Tetris [Live?], Dr. Mario, Bejewled, ART Style games($5 games with lots of value)... Those are a few. I mean, if you have a DSi, then you should know about some of these titles. Otherwise, if you don't have a DSi, well, be sure to look into these great DSiWare games.
One of the most important questions is which might be the usual price for Vita games. Nintendo has most 3DS games in the 40€-45€ price range (IMO, extremely overpriced), which is more or less equivalent to common prices for Wii games. But if Sony does the same then the problem is that Vita games might be between 55 and 65€.
..I buy my 3DS games at zavvi.nl in Holland..there is a zavvi.com..i am not sure if they're also selling US region 3DS games. They sell new 3DS games between 17&36 euro! So,thats pretty affordable!
Thanks for all your advice I cant get one right now because its way to expensive, i mean its more than a ps3 or xbox 360 but it sounds like it will be better than the psp vita And i can only think of one game i want for it if i got it today... LOZ OoT. Ill just wait to see if kid icarus, luigis mansion, starfox ect are enough for me to buy one
i finally got my hands on a 3DS at gamestop. i will not be able to play it in 3D: as soon as i saw the screen my left eyed felt like it was 'pulling'. my eyes don't play well together, lol.
i see people who say: if you can't use the 3D, then just shut it down with the lever. that's all fine and good, but it is THE FREAKIN' 3DS! the 3D is supposed to be the point of it. is it worth playing 3D OoT in 2D?? i can't tell you how much i wish they'd put out a port for my DSi, since i have to play it in 2D anyways.
Well, for one: The DSi wouldn't be able to handle OoT (the 3DS version)- at all.
Playing games in 2D- you're not really missing out on anything huge. I mean, I didn't get the 3DS just because it has 3D. I have one because hey, it's Nintendo's next-gen handheld, plus the nifty features it has (Streetpass, Spotpass, etc).
I think people overlook the 3DS just because it's advertised as "3D no glasses". It's cool and all... But there's more to the 3DS than 3D.
it has RE merc, OOT3d, SF64 3D, Kingdom Hearts DDD, SSF4, PilotWings Resort, Cave Story 3D, ALL DS games, Pprof. Layton Mask of Miracle, MGS 3D, Paper Mario, Mario 3D, Mario Kart, Luigi's Mansion2, RE Rev, MML3, SSB, and Kid Icarus.
i would delete mercenaries and pilotwings from this list but thats just me Ps: whats MML3 ?
On topic ... depends what you like , if you are for example a hardcore resident evil fan ... Wait and buy your 3DS in package with RE: revelations ! or if you are a multiplayer fan wait until kid ikarus arrives ( i got the feeling it will be the killer app which metroid hunters was for the DS ...) or pick any game and wait for it ... For now OOT is way to go but ofc if you know it or somehow dont like it there isnt much to do right now in all honesty ... Dont say u all lot play excitebike until ikarus and revelations appear on the horizon heh oO its always interesting which your first time ever title will be for a new generations in terms of memories etc ...
teh graphix sux! the psp has waaaaaaaaaay better graphix. oh it's in 3D lololol. the 3d doesn'teven work. it's not popping out and it's all blurie!
besides, the wii u is coming out soon
dont spread lies ... And you arent forced into blur , its just one option for Ds games , the other option is sharp but smaller ... Yes the 3d is working but of course its mainly focusing on depth 3d The popping out of the screen is just the icing on the cake for cutscenes etc All time popping out wouldnt work anyway , just think man ...
For me, this year's E3 and the upcoming games confirmed that I need a 3DS. But without the money, I'll just wait for the red one to come out. It's being released in Japan this July, so a red 3DS shouldn't be too far away for other regions, right? Right?! Just a tip if you prefer that color...
i would bet red 3DS comes for christmas season in our regions. Just fits perfectly with mario titles which will be released until then maybe ?! And red is just the christmas color ....
@k8sMum, in fact I would say that the only way to play OOT is in 2D as you usually need to move the device in order to aim/look around (gyro-based) and with 3D you will be missing the "touchy" sweet spot continuously -> double image effect.
