They loved: Engaging Story. Little to no grinding. Expands the table top genré. Great soundtrack. Satisfying combat.
They disliked: Not very pretty. Menus can be confusing. One key item can only be obtained through strict means, with no explanation.
Sounds like Phil's review other then the not very pretty part!
And I'll be the first to admit that I know the visuals won't be to everyone's taste. haha I adored the static simplicity, but certainly not everybody will.
The audio on the other hand? If you're disappointed by that, I will fly to your house and slap you.
@Philip_J_Reed So how exactly do enemies respawn then? and when they do respawn do they appear as pieces on the board that you go up to to attack? i don't get it even though i've read all the online reviews out there that i could find

I'll hold you to that offer

... Funnily enough, you can actually throw them hard enough that they fly up to the top screen and hit your characters on the head, at which point any rogue die is placed into your inventory for a later use at your own discretion...
Congratulations sir, you have just sold me the game. I would have bought it anyway even with the early negative rep, I love a game with good writing and considering it's from Matsuno, I'll get it day one.
Are there any gameplay videos of Crimson Shroud all I've seen was a story trailer that didn't have any gameplay in it?
The video on the eShop actually shows far more than any other video I've seen online, and pretty much influenced me to buy the game.
Somebody else was asking about size: it's pretty huge, almost 2000 blocks >_>. But hey, that combined with the fact that Japan got Solomon's Key just means I have an excuse to delete Pyraminds . And maybe get a new SD card haha.
Also, I would like to hit anyone who has complained about the visuals. Even the low res eShop video looked beautiful to me! It has a very dark, gothic visual style. The graphics may not be state of the art but it's still a great looking game! I'll report more once I've started playing.
Yeah I just saw the trailer in the eshop and noticed it had some brief gameplay in it, I might get Crimson Shroud next week when I get another eshop card and after I see how much I have left after I buy Wario Land II and Escape Vektor.
Much to my surprise I go get an eshop card today expecting to pick up a 20$ one and they had combined Wii U and 3ds ones now so I got a 35$ one instead. I had just enough. That made my day. Took about 25 mins with my WiFi speed to download this so be prepared to wait. I remember NSMB 2 was about the same but my speed at the time was better. Had to take a nap so I've yet to dive into this. Looking forward to it for sure!

If I was only ever able to have Monster Hunter and EO games in the future, I would be a happy man.
always thought I'd change to Gyarados after I turned 20 but hey, this is more fitting I guess. (also somebody registered under the original Magikarp name and I can't get back to it anymore orz)
Played this for 80 minutes and finished two normal battles and a Boss encounter, really enjoyed what I've played so far. I highly suggest you play the game with headphones on, the soundtrack is amazingly composed and orchestrated. Don't expect this game to be a JRPG, think of it more like a board game mixed in with some Visual novel elements. Speaking of which, the writing is pretty good, happy to see that a decent effort was put into localization. Can't wait to play more later.
Considering I've spent all week playing Virtue's Last Reward, I think I'll play something that's not so text heavy for a while before diving into this.
It's sitting in my 3DS menu waiting to be played though, so can't wait to get into it sometime soon.
I've read this game has Dungeons & Dragons references or tendencies. With that said, is there some sort of D&D anniversary or celebration going on? I ask because tonight's Big Bang Theory was D&D themed.
