I was going to skip right over this one, but Windy's comments in this thread are convincing me to reconsider. If this receives a positive review from NL then I'll probably download it.
Iv'e been comparing the game to games I've played in the past but Bloody Vampire is its own Beast. Very Fresh and the 3D is done pretty cool. If I had to compare it to something current I would compare it to the likes of Gunman Clive and the Epic Mickey Power of Illusion. Gunman Clive is slightly better but not by much. Epic Mickey.....well to me didn't do all that well. In comparison to me, Bloody Vampire looks better, plays better, and sounds better, than the Epic Mickey game.
Still playing 3DS but will have Switch soon for multiplayer with friends. I miss you guys! Adam, Joni, Gavin and the rest of the Blue Rogues from the Phantasy Star Zero Days.
The game is more comparable to Castlevania: Symphony of the Night or the Handheld Igavanias than anything. Give it a go if you're looking for a similar yet simplified metroidvania experience. For $5, it's not too bad of a risk. The 3D effect though is a bit tame for my tastes, having somewhat half the depth of games like Mighty switch force.

Yeah I would compare it to Castlevania also. Last Castlevania I played was DraculaX. It's just a good Time

It actually reminds me most of Circle of the Moon (which is my personal favorite Castlevania game, BTW). They both had somewhat simplified stat upgrade systems where permanent stat upgrades are found scattered around the map, the spellcasting here reminds me a bit of the DSS spell system in CotM, and the controls and combat feel a little clunky at first in both games, but end up feeling really good once you get used to them.
Finished the game with 6:40 min. Overall good game, would give it a 7/10, def recommend to fans of metroidvanias. Cool music, good graphics, tight controls.
Map would of been a plus but had fun exploring.
Since someone working for the dev is in here I'll report a bug: the first boss (mini-boss?), the large blue slime, got me stuck in a "wall." I put that in quotes because there wasn't actually a wall there, but I was embedded in the air and couldn't move. I was in the narrow corridor on the left when you enter the room, he hopped over to me and hit me with one of his slime projectiles, and that knocked me into the wall. I couldn't move (though I could jump) and had to restart the game.
Has this happen to you more then once? Also, any other details you can think of.... like was this at the start of the battle? Any details would be most appreciated.
We’re having a heck of a time reproducing it.
Nope, just the once. It wasn't at the very start of the battle...I'd hit him probably 4 - 5 times by then, but I got trapped in the little entryway (my own fault) and then when I got hit I rebounded backward and got stuck. Sorry I don't have any more info than that.
Also sorry if I confused anyone, but I'm not reviewing this! I just bought it on a whim for something to do during the weekend I was away.

So then, can you tell us what you think of it?

Anybody discover the side quest that is mentioned in the description of the game on Nintendo's site? For those unaware, this is on the Bloody Vampire page on Nintendo.com:
Features
Four magic elements, able to increase three levels.
Transform between a daring bat and an invincible wolf.
Fight enemies to earn gold and buy rare items.
Encounter event battles and confront powerful beasts.
Explore and discover a significant side quest.
I've searched everywhere but there is no mention of a side quest? Only thing I can think of is this place close to the end of the game were you have to unlock 2 or 3 iron doors but there is nothing in the unlocked room? Just this suspicious block/stone that is mysteriously cracked/missing chunks but nothing happens when you stand on it. Tried everything, pressing up/down, used all the available magic on it but nothing! Help!
@pedrron I don't have the game but maybe it's postgame content.
There is no Post-game content, once the credits roll, you are back to where you last saved. Got all the items, power ups and unlocked all the doors and I don't see anything remotely significant to count as a sidequest. I'd guess that maxing out your stats and collecting all the weapons is the sidequest the devs meant. Also glad to see they're opening a possibility for a sequel, I don't mind seeing more Doujin like games make it to the eshop.
Yes, I am the main localization producer with Agetec. I wish I had an answer for you, but honestly, I don't.
I agree that every eShop title should have a video, which a video is a requirement by Nintendo to create, submit and be approved for eShop. Both Bloody Vampire and Witch’s Cat should have their videos on the eShop. I am finding out why they are missing.
Sounds like you are enjoying the game and I’m looking forward to when you get those magic levels increased, also there is Dark magic as well. And soon you’ll gain the ability to transform into a bat or wolf, which is good fun.
And the feedback is always appreciated both the pros and cons.
