I bought mine from game.co.uk today at 1330h, the code was delivered to me by email at 1520h, but it wasn't accepted by the e-shop until after 1600h.
an hour's download later and I've been playing it from then until now

Ah now I get you. I thought you got yours through the promotion.
Ah no. For me it was either buy Animal Crossing and get Luigi 2 from the promotion, or do it the other way around. I waited until today to see which was the cheaper way of doing it (AC was £3 less than LM2) and was pleasantly surprised to see my download code worked ahead of the release date. I had fully expected to have to wait until midnight.
I could have bought the boxed copy earlier this week as well: retailers here in Spain just don't care about release dates - if they have it in stock then they'll sell it, which is brilliant. Got my Wii U a few days before launch due to this
@DanielHPoetry Yay! Hope you enjoy ACNL. I'm only three days in (game arrived a day early in the mail!) but it's good to be collecting bugs n fish again. And Tom Nook, he's still riding my back for bells to upgrade my house. All is well with the world!

This is most likely going to be my freebie from the So Many Games promotion after my Monster Hunter arrives on Tuesday. I would have gotten it download anyway out of convenience, since I'm probably going to play it in very short bursts every day.
I got the boxed copy which was my third game in the So Many Games promo... but as I didn't want any of the other games, I've gotten ACNL as a digital download too. So do I play with two towns or do I sell the boxed copy? Haven't decided yet but no rush.

I started my first run through of the game to try it out and I'm already hooked! I made enough to put the down payment on my house. I got the net and shovel. And I got stung by bees 4 times! This game is great Lol! I won't actually come back to it until I finish Metal Gear Solid 3D first. I'm almost done with it, and now I have even more incentive to hurry up and get done. Add my friend code so we can visit each other in the future.
@DanielHPoetry so glad you're enjoying ACNL - my kids are hooked already. And despite it's non-violent nature it's causing fisticuffs as they fight over buying up the contents of each other's shops. Perhaps I should follow your lead and give them MGS 3D...

Is it possible for you to retain your save data for the digital version of New Leaf, if you do a System Transfer?
I bought the game from the eShop (on a new 3DS), did a System Transfer from another 3DS to the one I bought it on (because my other games were on the older one) but to my sore dissappointment it deleted all the save data from the target system! In fact it didn't move any saves from the source system either (though they might be on the older SD card).

So yeah, I wish I had bought the cart version.
Everything on the new 3DS is completely erased (except the right to redownload any games you had in it). Games downloaded and all data stored in the old 3DS' SD card will work perfectly in the new 3DS, even if you move it to a new SD card.

Ah, so if I do another System Transfer, the save data for my AC village will be safe and usable? That's good to know. T.Hanks!
so the game is out for some days now. i still dont have the game because right now i am totally broke. but i will definetly get this game when i have the funds for it.
are you happy with your retail/downloaded version? or do you regret getting it retail/download and rather had download/retail? know what i mean? xD
