Bah,I'm sorry I made that statement too confusing! I just meant to say When I bought my system I played it for 2 hours with no update downloaded. Within those 2 hours there was no crash. Then after those 2 hours I got the update. I've had that update now for more then a day and still no crash. My bad. >.<
I still think it's not the update. I had the 3DS WITHOUT the update for 2 hours and didn't have an error. 2 hours may not be enough testing time, but I've had the update for a day 1/2 now and still no error message.(thank god) I think some 3DS may just have a defect in the firmware.
You said you had the system WITHOUT the update!! Obviously I now know you meant to say WITH the update, but typing the wrong thing will cause confusion.
calm down and read the post above yours, please. @Retro: for what it's worth, I understood what you said just fine. :3

Yay, the confusion about my post is resolved! (right?) Anyways after seeing Corbs post that does get me thinking it could be the update. But with the complete opposite out comes between his 3DS and mine I think it's a combination of the original firmware in some 3DS and the update.
You guys don't know how easy your getting it...Did you have to restart your system 106 times because of a frozen black screen with no error message on the system settings for 4 hours to update your 3DS? Didn't think so...I'm kinda angry right now if you can't notice...

lets skip all the update gibberish lets get the rumours rolling i throw in: when you recharge your battery twice a day you get error messages or if you already have recharged your 3DS over 10 times any other ideas ?
PS until now didnt have again the error so lets knock on wood ^^

i think what he meant was that he'd played the unit for like 2 hours with no problem, THEN GOT THE UPDATE and had used it that way for 1/2 day with no still no problems...at least that's how i read it.

This was already cleared up a while ago, thanks.
If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.
Yikes. I really hope it's an easy fix and, as selfish as it may sound, that I don't encounter it. As in love with it as I've been (and as much money as I spent on it), I'd hate for me and the 3DS to have to break up.
I wonder if this error thing is a Wifi connection issue. I know sometimes when I'm playing Wild World (DS) or City Folk (Wii) I get disconnected from the internet and have to start the game over. Well, with the 3DS, the internet is ALWAYS on. Even if your playing DS games, the wifi is still running. So maybe if you get disconnected from the internet on the 3DS....you get the black screen errror? Has anyone tried turning off the 3DS wifi and seeing if they still get the error?
Oh and another thought is: it could be a WPA issue. Is everyone using that? I know Nintendo is use to using the WEP connection (on the DS), so maybe they haven't gotten the hang of WPA yet?
I have not gotten my 3DS yet. It should be here soon. I wonder if I should update my system or maybe I shouldn't in case its not a Wifi issue? I'm not sure. Any suggestions?
Doesn't seem to be a Wi-Fi issue as I've gotten the error even with the Wi-Fi turned off. I'll be in the middle of a levels in SMB or SSFIV and it just quits and goes to the black screen with the error message. Then you have to hold the POWER button down in order to turn it off and restart.
I haven't gotten it at all, and I've been playing the console for 16 hours and 13 minutes, according to my Activity Log. Fingers crossed a quick fix comes soon for those who've been having trouble, though.
