I really don't know the cause or anything on why some music files won't play while others will, so I'm going to just ask if anyone could give me anything that you think causes the "file cannot be read" or whatever the error says. I'm checking them in the folder on the computer and everything seems normal, the computer itself plays them fine...So, I'm confused on what to do...T_T
Help me out here...please...

I've never bought any soundtracks ever...I've had these for a while and can't remember where exactly. But yeah I've never bought them, they're also all in MP3 format as well...even checked the bit rate and they're all the same. It has to do something with the 3DS I'm sure of, because before the DSi never had trouble playing the files. (then again they were converted...) Gah! T_T

It's happened to me with one album; I haven't yet been able to find a reason, then 3DS just doesn't seem to like them. I have, however, found a cure (albeit a slightly unwieldy one): download a program like Audacity, then open the mp3 file into it, then export it is mp3 (essentially re-saving it as mp3), and it should then work on the 3DS.

You don't have to do it with every single file. You can import then export a whole album's worth at once, or more. The only problem is that you have to wait for it to load and save.

...M4As?...Wat? lol Well with MP3s being like....the default format or whatever...I don't have to bother with converting and whatnot...too much work. T_T

Those things Nintendo calls AAC files? The ones that iTunes converts into.
And I'm not one for laziness. I really detail my music's info and so far, the StreetPass hits I got were pretty clear.
I like MP3s but I just can't put up with it anymore.

Yeah I've done the same before...but doing it all again, ugh...I have a crap load of music files for each album. xD

How do you do that then? I've never done that before...I just know how to edit files and all that. xD (and I had Audacity for a while, just saying. )
You just open Audacity, click the Project tab and select Import Audio. Then select all of the files you want (you can hold Ctrl to select more than one at once), then import them. Then select File, Export Multiple, then select MP3 on the drop down menu and select a save location, and it'll save them all for you.

Drag the music files onto the SD card, pop it in, done... and it also helps to consult the manual. I just use the standard windows file format and MP3's.

....Um, I dunno where you getting at...that's how my music get's on the SD card...and as far as I know they are in standard format...But when the 3DS reads some of the files, some of them play fine while others randomly give me the "file could not be read/played" error.

Converting them all to AAC files like Sylverstone said could fix your problem, and it doesn't take much time if you have iTunes. Just copy all your music into the library and by selecting all of them, just click the AAC formatting button.
If you don't know what I mean, you'll figure it out either way once you've done the first. I, too, like to put my music files in full details and discription. The time for it doesn't concern me, so if you really are gonna use the 3DS Sounds I sugest you do this.

They're neither of them, I've checked into all of that before and didn't see anything about it. (not to mention I could edit the details and other things as well too) Also it wouldn't make sense to add copyright protection to only some songs...
I'm going to try this thing with Audacity first that Kinino told me about. Maybe that'll do it.
