Ok,

In 2025 (Jan), . . .

What 3DS/DS(i)(ware)/GBA games still need to be ported to the Switch/2?

And . . .

What have been your favourite 3DS/DS(i)(ware)/GBA games that got ported to Switch/2?

I guess for me, I'd like Samus Returns ported to Switch/2 (even though I've played it and finished it on my 2DS. That is one game I'd actually be up to picking up on the Switch/2 and play through again.).

And . . . although I haven't played it yet (but I've got the cart waiting, just in case I actually finish OOT and MM LOL), is Zelda A Link Between Worlds.

As for existing ports, I guess I'm liking Mario vs. Donkey Kong (GBA). I've got the Switch cart, but I don't get a lot of Switch time so I haven't progressed too far on that yet. 'been mainly sticking to our 2DS.

GBA is on NSO so it will keep getting games at its own pace. Personally I suspect DS will eventually be on NSO too.

From 3DS I would like:

  • Super Mario Land 3D
  • New Super Mario Bros 2
  • Poochy and Yoshi's Woolly world
  • Kirby Triple Deluxe
  • Various Pokemon games
  • Zelda Link Between Worlds
  • Various Mario and Luigi

Good list!

Good point on DS making it to NSO eventually. I would love that.

Seeing Super Mario 3D Land on your list . . . I'd agree. I finished Super Mario 3D World with my kids on the Wii U, so I didn't get the Switch version because I wouldn't be able to get my kids to play through the game again. But . . . if they ported Super Mario 3D Land to Switch/2, and added local multiplayer co-op mode, maybe I could get them to play this one because it was different / new levels for them?

As for New Super Mario Bros 2 . . . maybe port New Super Mario Bros 1 & 2 to Switch/2 packaged together?

@NintendoDad I would love if all 3 missing new super games came in a single package but I agree 1 and 2 as a package and nsmb wii seperate in some unrelated port is probably more likely

I feel like Super Mario 3D Land is less likely to get ported simply because it would have made more sense to pack with all stars or 3D World but you never know.

seconding the Shin Megami Tensei games @Servbot_EJ !!
I love what I've played of Atlus' 3DS rpgs, but I've never been able to finish them. Switch 2 ports of SMT, Etrian Odyssey, Radiant Historia, and Persona Q would be very welcome!

also, a port of Metroid: Samus Returns would rock!

Xenoblade Chronicles 3D.

... wait.

@FishyS
RE: nsmb 1+2 — As for packaging 1+2 together . . . I'm just following Advance Wars lead in packaging 2 games together. LOL.
RE: Super Mario 3D Land . . . You're probably right. But I'm thinking I really enjoyed that game. It would be a shame to lose that game. But if they were able to expand it to make it multiplayer co-op mode like it's big brother Super Mario 3D World, then "maybe" it could justify a Switch/2 release?

@Servbot_EJ
Yeah. I had to look up a lot of those games. Although I am shocked that Persona Q and Q2 hasn't made it to Switch yet. That is a name I've heard before, quite a bit.

@Havenn
+1. Good list. Again . . . I had to look up a few of those games.

@skywake
RE: Rhythm Heaven — That is an interesting one. I had seen this name before. I looked up the game and . . . it seems to rely on the touch screen quite a bit? 'just thinking about how this would transfer to Tabletop and Docked mode.

@stephanxliko
RE: Xenoblade Chronicles 3D. — Yeah. Wouldn't this be an example of a franchise that is well represented on the Switch?

Hey. Ok. Another question.

What type of release do you think makes sense, or what is it you want?

A) I'd be OK if it were released as a Switch game . . . that can be played on both the Switch and Switch 2. It doesn't need to be a Switch 2 game.

B) I'd like it to be a Switch game but have enhanced graphics (sound?) when played on Switch 2.

C) Nope. I want it to be an exclusive Switch 2 game. I want to be forced to buy the new console!

D) Another option. Please explain.

Well . . . metro.co.uk posted an article about "3DS games deserve a Nintendo Switch 2 remaster".

They had on their list . . .

Kid Icarus: Uprising
Metroid: Samus Returns
Fire Emblem Awakening
Nintendogs + Cats
Tomdachi Life
Bravely Default
Professor Layton Vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
and . . .
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D

I agree with them on every account. LOL.

Shin Megami Tensei IV!

Best game of the series in my opinion. A port will need some work to get everything on a single screen, and that will open it up to be ported to every system, but for now, it's stuck on the 3DS.

I've supp'd for months on naught but broth of bean

I think I'd get way too hyped for a X-scape (dsi) port or sequel. In fact, the original X should appear for gameboy NSO.

Also, Rusty's Real Deal Baseball sequel/port. Please Nintendo, I beg.
