Super Mario Galaxy 2

We also still want this. What can we say? We're just normal gamers.

What are the chances?

Technically, there are zero obstacles at all, of course. And it's not impossible that Nintendo proffers this as a stopgap offering while we wait for new hardware. But at this point, it's anybody's guess. One day it could easily be announced in a tweet and just appear on the eShop.

Norco

A point-and-click set in an alternate Louisiana, Norco was a 2022 indie darling that we hoped would become a 2023 indie darling on Switch. Published by Raw Fury and developed by Geography of Robots, it felt like a good bet for a Switch port, but nada so far.

What are the chances?

You'd think it would have come in 2023, but hey, look at Outer Wilds. That took years to make it to Switch, so there's a chance for Norco yet.

El Paso, Elsewhere

Ready for some adjectives? El Paso, Elsewhere is a slick, neo-noir, retro-styled, third-person homage-of-sorts to Max Payne, Made by Xalavier Nelson Jr.'s team at Strange Scaffold, the game has been on our radar for a while and would work very nicely on Switch, we think. It's a game featuring lots of shooting, lots of vampires, and lots of slow-motion shooting of vampires. What's not to love?

What are the chances?

It's a Unity game that runs on Xbox One, so the chances are that Switch could handle this well. Console-wise, it's only on PC and Xbox at the moment, but we can imagine a world where ports to Sony and Nintendo platforms are announced, say, a year after its original September 2023 launch. That would be nice, wouldn't it?

Papers, Please

What can we say — we're suckers for excellent indie games from the last decade or so (it was only with great reluctance we took The Witness and the brilliant FTL off this wishlist — it just ain't happening!), and Papers, Please is one of the finest

What are the chances?

Well, we did get Lucas Pope's equally excellent Return of the Obra Dinn, and he has joked that Papers, Please is heading to consoles next in "2031". Honestly, it feels unlikely at this point. A shame, as we think it would suit Switch well.

Monkey Island 1 and 2 (and 3 and 4 and Tales of)

We Returned to Monkey Island, but Switch gamers never went there in the first place. And they should have!

What are the chances?

The Special Editions of the first game and its celebrated sequel which launched on PC/PS3/Xbox 360 would surely be great additions to Switch, and they're crying out for a modern reissue across all platforms. We've seen games get through worse Disney licensing issues than this. Come on, Bob — chop chop.

Mass Effect: Legendary Edition

Yep, we still want this one, too.

What are the chances?

It would be a nice goodwill gesture and help bolster the IP after a rough patch or three, but at this stage, we don't see it. It's far more likely EA will go all-in on Nintendo's next console, having missed the boat on Switch after getting burned with Wii U. And then 'Switch 2' will bomb and the circle will be complete.

That's right, no EA Sports for 'Switch 3'! You heard it here first.

Marvel Snap

An addictive mobile card title which is Jim's most-played game of the year. You know the Switch is a handheld too, Jimbo? Tsk.

What are the chances?

Honestly, we were expecting a port of this to drop around the game's first anniversary. We'd still put money on it coming at some point.

We've thinned the list down a little from last year — frankly, we've got such a backlog that we'd welcome a little respite, and the quality of the Switch ports recently has been a coin toss in the performance department.

Oh, and we forgot Star Trek: Resurgence. We'd like to play that on Switch, too. Engage. Make it so! And so on.
