Years before Masahiro Sakurai and his talented team released Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on the Nintendo Switch, they created Super Smash Bros. Brawl. This game saw the introduction of characters like Sonic the Hedgehog, and was the first entry in the series to include online play.
Now, to celebrate this title, which launched on the Wii in 2008, this week Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is hosting a Brawl Tournament. It starts this Friday, on 10th April, and will run for a total of three days. As you might have already guessed, it only allows you to use fighters that fought in this particular game. Here are all the details (courtesy of Japanese Nintendo):
Available Fighters: Meta Knight, Pit, Zero Suit Samus, Wario, Snake, Ike, Pokémon Trainer, Diddy Kong, Lucas, Sonic, King Dedede, Olimar, Lucario, R.O.B., Toon Link, and Wolf.

Brawl was such a lifetime ago!
I miss the subspace emissary...
Before Ultimate, Brawl had the most diverse roster in the series. Will be checking out for sure.
Ah, I remember when I lost my mind when I found out there was a game in which Mario and Sonic could actually beat each other up instead of doing the Olympics.
Not the first Smash Bros I played, but the first that I owned. Great memories.
@TheAwesomeBowser ...am I missing something? The only characters Brawl had that Smash 4 didn't were Wolf, Ivysaur, Squirtle, Ice Climbers and Snake.
@link3710
Smash 4 added the likes of Shulk, Robin, Mega Man, Pac-Man, Duck Hunt, Wii Fit Trainer, Villager, Ryu, and Bayonetta. I'd say it was even more diverse in its own way.
Melee is still numba 1 for me. Rose-tinted nostalgia glasses on, but who cares... I love my GameCube games.
Brawl introduced me to not only the Smash franchise, but a host of other franchises...this tourney sounds like fun
Audi Famooooooom,
Illioooooooooo!
@ReaperExTenebris Pity Ganoncide isn't in ganon's favour anymore on Ultimate
Brawl was my first Smash game and I have never looked back. Love this series. I remember reading Nintendo Official Magazine, use to love that magazine, and reading all the new updates about the game and as a Sonic fan seeing him in the game was amazing.
I've still got Brawl and I might play the Subspace Emissary now and again but Ultimate is the main Smash game now. I've got great memories playing Brawl.
Subspace and the art direction made it the best super smash bros
I still remember that trailer. And being shocked to see snake at the end. I loved the game except for that tripping thing.
