As brilliant as the Switch Joy-Con is, it's flat on both sides, overly small when paired up with certain hands and can result in some serious cramps after prolonged sessions on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (trust us, we know). Much more comfortable options include the Pro Controller and even the GameCube pad.
Although we discovered Nintendo might be working on a more ergonomic Joy-Con design, if a recent patent filing is anything to go by, it appears to be restricted to the original Switch model. So what will Switch Lite owners do when their hands start to physically hurt after hours of gaming on the go?
The creator of the "GripCase", Skull and Co., has revealed it is working on an accessory designed exclusively for the Switch Lite, featuring removable grips. It means you'll be able to play games when you're out and about for a longer period of time, without having to worry about how your hands are holding up. Here's a teaser of this new accessory from Skull and Co's Instagram:
Skull and Co. has not yet revealed the price of this new grip case, but has said it is "coming soon". As can be seen above, the only colour shown so far is yellow. The Switch Lite launches next week on 20th September.

This looks good! Almost like an integral part of the Switch lite
Why are people complaining about hand cramps? We don't even have this console yet lol.
Big fan of the limited edition GameCube grip for the original Switch. Their grips are worth the money.
Looks great. Would be seriously tempted if I was getting a Lite. Alas all my money is reserved for the ridiculous amount of great games coming up.
“Much more comfortable options include the Pro Controller and even the GameCube pad”
Even? the GC pad? Pfft. The GC pad feels great in the hands and It took Ninty 16 years to better it with the ProC. Please don’t diss the holy GC pad.
If anyone buys the Switch Lite because of its more compact size and the resulting better portability (is it really more portable?) over the normally sized Switch - why buying grips that make the Lite bigger again? Somewhat weird thought imo.
I love the fact that all of these Switch Lite accessories are going to negate any savings over buying the standard model.
I can't disparage anybody for doing so though, as I don't think I can resist the Zacian and Zamazenta model, plus I like the novelty of owning a smaller system than the one I have now (and being able to play games like DOOM on it).
@gamer89 You should get the grips from Skull & Co for the regular Switch, check it out here: https://skullnco.com/collections/switch-gripcase/products/gripcase-only
It’s also available on Amazon.
Introducing the switch Lite XL
....
Soon with funky mode ??
Looks legit. I’m definitely interested.
@BarefootBowser That’s a circulation issue. Get up and move about 🤣
@BarefootBowser Exactly. Get up and move about!
@JayJ because it's a known issue with the standard Switch in hand-held mode and this is shaped exactly like it (albeit smaller in scale). It's not ridiculous to believe that a console that will be played entirely in hand-held mode will suffer from the same issue as it's predecessor when the design of the grip hasn't been changed.
@gamer89 Ive been using the RDS GoPlay Grip for well over a year and it's great. Very comfortable for hand-held play. The joycons detach if you want and it can be stood upright to double as a very sturdy kickstand in tabletop mode. It's also angled perfectly to lay flat on a table and play touch screen games. I love this product. Check it out if you're so inclined.
It looks pretty slick to me. I don't think I will be getting the Switch Lite though.
@gamer89 "I get cramps after holding original Switch after about one hour, any advice what grip to get on Amazon or eBay?"
Stay away from eBay for the holder. Look a Amazon and read the reviews and pictures to get a idea which of the Grip holder will best fit your usage.
How do they know that cramps won't be a problem with this SPONSORED product?
@JayJ Some people do actually. But for testing purpose. Some had bad feeling using the the Switch Light..felt a bit crampy. But then again this should come with the Switch Light in the box alreaydy for free
@Alucard83 I mean I guess they sell these for a reason, at least they didn't waste time offering options.
I feel this particular setup is very "banana", i dont like that.
@graysoncharles my pinky always fell asleep, went dumb and super cold. I have giant old man hands btw, mayb thats the whole problem?
@gamer89 get the skull and co!
@RiggsHB I'm using the same grip and I also really like it.
