It appears that the Nintendo Switch is getting its first dose of Digimon-shaped goodness, with a brand new game from Bandai Namco called Digimon Survive expected to launch sometime next year in Japan.

The game has reportedly been announced in this week's Famitsu magazine, with details now being circulated among Japanese press. Blog site ryokutya has shared some key information from the announcement, noting that the game is a survival RPG that contains a mix of elements from other genres, as well as a blend of 2D and 3D graphics.

Conversations will feature 2D images, and choices will be able to change story elements or even evolutions. There appears to be point-and-click style field investigations, battles will be strategy-like with square grids, and the protagonist is an eighth-grade student who has Agumon as his partner. Phew!

A Digimon event had previously been announced for the 29th July that was set to feature a game announcement, with all of the action scheduled to be live-streamed on YouTube. It seems likely that Digimon Survive is that game, and we'll hopefully hear more about it at this event, perhaps with a clearer understanding of how the game will look and play.

The last three Digimon titles were exclusive to PS4 and PS Vita, so seeing this latest title arrive on Switch is very welcome indeed. Are you up for a new Digimon game on your Switch?
