HAMSTER has once again broken up its prolific Neo Geo fighting game streak with some shmup action next week as Ghost Pilots soars down onto the eShop on April 26th.
This 1991 vertical scrolling shooter was very much a case of SNK going "Look, we can do it too!" at Capcom's 194X series and served as a truly effective hardware showcase for the platform.
The distinguishing 'hook' for this one is that you actually get to fly bulky seaplanes instead of the more common WW2 fighters. They still shoot and drop screen-clearing bombs like the others, though.
To fly these seaplanes will cost you $7.99 / €6.99 / £6.29. Will you be adding another classic shmup to your digital arcade library next week?

Never heard of this one
I still haven't picked up Aero Fighters yet, would it be better to get those over this game for now?
@Biff_ARMStrong Yep! Go get Aero Fighters 2 and 3 instead.
I'll be getting this one for sure.
Looks alright, nothing wrong with having another shump.
My Switch spending has been crazy lately, but I'll have no problems with adding this one - it's my wife's favourite old shooter
@Fake-E-Lee you said it mate, I'm CONSIDERABLY poorer (and happier!) since I got back to console gaming with my Switch...
And I'd get a night job to support my spending habits but hey... how am I supposed to work if I have to play all the games I buy? No way!
The most uninspiring SHMUP in NeoGeo history. Very boring and generic shoot-em-up. Avoid.
Played it at a con, was alright but nothing special. Still functional, will buy just to offer some variety.
@Fake-E-Lee Ha! Ha! That almost mirrors my own experience - 2 Switches in our house too and loads of games, mostly arcade releases 😎
I'm in for this!
Mine!
A toughie, maybe too tough for what it is... Fire Shark this ain’t, but I’ll probably get it
I'll obviously get this one, the Switch is the shmup console.
It's a decent enough game, if you're looking for another shmup to play, but it's got nothing on Aero Fighters 2 & 3...
This looks pretty cool, kinda reminds me of 1942.
