8Bitdo has just issued a new firmware update for its excellent SN30 and SF30 Pro controllers, which are of course compatible with the Nintendo Switch.
According to the patch notes, this update has been issued to "enhance the accuracy of analog on Switch mode", which should be of particular interest to those who purchased one as a Pro Controller substitute.
You can grab the firmware here. Let us know if you've noticed any difference.

Nice one, I just bought one at the weekend. It's a fantastic controller but I just wanted it for the D-pad,for analogue controls I'll stick to my Pro. I'll still update it though and give it a try.
It is a nice controller but the rumble is pretty awful.
I got one last week, and it doesn't light up no matter what button combinations I press. I've left it on the charger for hours, but no lights come on
I need a couple controllers for my retropi. I was thinking of either getting these or the ibuffalo controllers. Can anyone comment on the quality of those?
I have not looked into this too deeply but I got a nes and snes classic and I have trouble getting any of my 8bitdo wireless adapters to recognize the snes classics buttons. It stays in nes classic format (the x and y stay in a and b turbo mode for nes) this is with a switch pro, Wii U pro, and a 8bitdo nes controllers. I feel like my firmware on the dongles was up to date until now but I would like to play the snes wirelessly.
What a coincidence! I got a SN30PRO yesterday and after putting some time in with it, I must say it's a fantastic joypad. I'd heard the rumble was loud but I guess they fixed that with a firmware update because I couldn't hear it at all over Mario Odyssey in tabletop mode at max volume. If it looks appealing to you then I'd highly recommend getting it! It's a great little controller and is sure to stimulate your nostalgia glands!
@ButterSpill I'm sorry to tell you but I had one of their NES30 Pro that was dead on arrival just like this - and I never managed to get any life out of it after charging it all night - even though it looked perfect. I've had one before though that was great - and I believe the company in general makes great products. But I think your going to have to wait on a replacement
btw Damien @nintendolife these are SN30 Pro and SF30 Pros models. SN30 and SF30 are different products with no analog.
@brunojenso Oops, missed the Pro - have added!
Rumble has also been Fixed in an update, for those who didnt know
Way cheaper and more accurate than Nintendo's own Switch pro controller imo. The d-pad on this is phenomenal and deliver that amazing SNES feel to all your games.
@Hikingguy Sega and Retro-Bit are planning to release some bluetooth wireless Genesis and Saturn controller soon. Hopefully they work with the Switch as well. That would be amazing for playing games like Ultra Street Fighter II and Sonic Mania.
@Hikingguy Nah I think everyone just use the most common layout cause it's more easier to port games. Back in the old PS1 and N64 days, not many games got port over to other platforms cause of controller complication especially with Sega Saturn and N64 having different controller layout from PlayStation. Beginning with Dreamcast, every controllers started using the same layout and it has been like that since (until the Steam controller came out, try to change a few things and was quickly killed off) but yeah I welcome the return of the six face button controller. I just hope that it isn't cheaply made, wireless or not, those are still products from Retro-Bit so I hope the quality standard isn't poor.
@brunojenso Okay, I'll send it back. I've got an SN 30 that works great on my SNES Classic so I know the they make good products...just got a dud I guess.
I love this controller. But I find the updates a bit fiddly. Showing my age perhaps!
This is awesome news I love how regular the updates for the controller are and making good improvements. can't wait to check it out.
Very nice. I have a SN30 and while it felt good, it was too lacking for general use on Switch. My only actual dislike was 8bitdo 'hid' the on/off and mode selection with button combos instead of a dedicated controls. Looking over the manual the pro model still does it, but seems to lock into the mode of choice, so it's at least less of a hassle.

To top up on what @retro_player_22 said. Keeping my eye on these, as long as the build quality is up to scratch this should be great.
@Aurumonado
I have iBuffalo wired controllers and they are excellent. The buttons are slightly louder when you press them that a real snes pad, but they are great and a great value.
maybe this update will get my controller to work 😑
I saw on a review on youtube that you can use Start+ A,B,X or Y to change from Switch to Xinput to Dinput and to Android. Does this mean that I can sync my controller with my switch, my PC and my cellphone at the same time and switch from one to the other just by using this shortcut ?
As an 8bitdo customer I really have to warn people about this company. I bought two of their controllers and they both ended up being defective on me. The quality control is simply awful for this company.
Does anyone know if this pad can be used on the Wii U?
I was literally just complaining to my brother last night because the joystick is incredibly unresponsive in games like Rocket League. I almost never use it for games like that, but it was still upsetting that it had such HUGE lag in the inputs. Hopefully this fixes it.
@wazlon I don't believe it can. They swapped out Wii and Wii U compatibility for the Switch on their older controllers, and this controller was released with Switch support. If you want to use their older controllers, like the NES30 Pro, you'll need to revert to an older firmware to use them on the Wii U.
@vanmunt Agreed. That's why I shifted to using it with my PC.
They look nice, like those RockCandy translucent Wiimotes.
@wazlon @Knuckles And actually I’m not even sure if a newer nes30 pro will do it anymore. I have an older fc30 pro that takes all of the older firmware updates. Later on I decided to get an nes30 pro, and it worked great but wouldn’t accept the firmware for ps3 or wiiu. Because my fc30 pro still took the firmware, I thought it was a problem with the hardware. But after two exchanges, they all did the same. They worked fine, just wouldn’t accept firmware for the older systems. So now I just keep the wiiu firmware on my old fc30 pro, and the nes30 pro is for Switch and Steam.
Finally got round to updating mine. Went for an hour of Minecraft with it, it's true that the sticks are a tad less sensitive but the main issue that has to do with the hardware and which makes them still so sensitive to begin with is still present and can't be patched with any firmware update. The outer area of the sticks is still detected as maximum input. OK before it seemed like it was a 40% of the outer area that all registered as maximum input and now it's perhaps more like 25%, but that's still a huge range of sensitivity that is unused. The sticks are small to begin with so the fact that part of the range of the sticks is considered as "100%" makes them even more sensitive than they need to be. Granted this update does make things a bit better, but for any game that requires great accuracy, like first person or third person shooting games, I still don't recommend those. That doesn't remove anything to the controllers being great for other things of course, like the D-Pad is great so that makes it one of the best controllers on the system for retro style 2D games and loads better than both the JoyCons for that purpose or even the official pro controller.
