That's a lot of traffic all hitting nintendo servers.

All of the above are handled by different server farms. It's just everybody trying to register for the free game that causing the clog.
sorry, I'm new to all this. I remember getting the original nintendo when it came out....with the gun and the track pad you could run on. awesomeness.
we got the super nintendo later when it came out....i remember getting street fighter 2 and being amazed that this arcade game was actually now on a console in my house....it was a crazy feeling.
and of course, super tecmo bowl 3: the Final Edition.....that was probably one of the hardest titles to get....the buzz around it when it came out was crazy...the crowds were crazy....and we probably played that game more than any other game. still to this day, I keep hoping to be able to play it on my wii u.
after the super nintendo, i got the nintendo 64 years later. i didn't hear about goldeneye till slightly later....when I finally got it....i was amazed. i had never played first person shooters before it....and we played the heck out of that game.
then I found computer games. team fortress classic blew me away. i stayed with computer games for years.
never owned or played a gamecube....saw a wii very briefly at my brothers house years later.
fast forward to now....i have 3 little kids....we got a returned wii u right after this past christmas. love it. we got nintendo land with it. pretty amazing game. kids absolutely loved it.
@zepking When you register games on CN you get "Coins" which you can redeem for rewards, some physical, some digital games. If you collect 300 coins by June 1 you're given a Gold status and if you reach 600 coins you become a Platinum member and can receive and additional reward they offer depending on your status.
I see. Darn it....I just need 50 more coins till 300....all I need to do is take the survey on mario kart 8 and I'm there. I hope the site comes back up so I can do it in time.
^^ Haha I got in yesterday right before the servers got pounded. I actually got kicked off right when my download code was loading, but thankfully I got an email with it a few hours later.

Anyway, I did my Mario Kart 8 Register, and got my Pikmin 3 early yesterday morning before 11am... dumb GameStop opens at 10 am...
I'm "eh" with Pikmin 3 right now. I just finished the First Day, so hopefully it gets better.
That said, I'm Loving Mario Kart 8 but damn, I am really hating Battle Mode!
