I had another freeze but found out at the very least it does save at the beginning of the last floor started. Thank goodness because I was super powered lol. I now understand why it had to be New 3ds as just what I had with me was like 15 sprites. Didn't see any slow down either.
If you have lots of familiars following you and a certain item that turns every enemy you kill into a fly that orbits around you, you can have like 30 sprites surrounding you at any given time. That's a LOT.
If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.
@TeeJay: That's pretty much what I had. 3 familiars and at least 4 flies and about 6 to 8 spiders. Plus I was shooting out a charge laser type weapon out of my mouth and I looked like Hannibal Lecter.

If I was only ever able to have Monster Hunter and EO games in the future, I would be a happy man.
@Spoony_Tech: I had a COMPLETE CIRCLE of flies orbiting me one time no lie, no space between them at all there were so many, along with I think 2 familiars and a few spiders. It was crazy!
Also, if anyone is debating on which version to get (3ds or WiiU) I'd go with the WiiU version. I bought both. I like the controls better with a proper controller. I also like playing it on the big screen. The 3ds version is fine, but I wish they had used the 3d effect.
The Wii U version has been flawless besides one crash in a dice room, but I was using the BASE MENT (Infinite basement floor) seed so I wasn't to bothered by it. Glad I picked this up.
