I can't help but still doubt the neutrality of Nintendo's official magazine for a Mario game, at least. Also, most challenging? Unless there is some major change from what we've been shown so far, those levels show no evidence that the game is half as hard as either of the Mario 2's. Don't get me wrong, I'm looking forward to this game more than any other game short of Other M, but this particular preview seems semi-dubious.
Nintendo Power isn't ran by Nintendo anymore just so you know...
Published by Future US, yes. That really means nothing though. They still have close ties with NoA and depend on them for their bread and butter.
They're not going to talk bad about Nintendo's main series. If Nintendo fans start to question Super Mario Brothers, what next? You risk turning a fan away from the company entirely, which means one less magazine buyer, too.
And no, I don't mean someone says, "Oh man, NSMB Wii isn't perfect? I'm done with Nintendo forever," but it is a flood gate for such thoughts, one which Nintendo Power would prefer to keep closed for their own interests.
The 3 minute completion of SMB3 is tool-assisted. It's possible someone has really beaten it in that time, but to my knowledge it hasn't been done. Plus, he was saying his own personal time, which isn't really reflected in someone else's obsessive speed running. Complaining that someone else can beat a game in 3 minutes would be pointless, but if you yourself aren't entertained long enough... sounds like a legitimate complaint, though I personally enjoyed it for its brevity, actually.
Just to clarify, I was talking about the speed run of the Original Super Mario Bros. (the ones I've seen of that aren't tool assisted). But that's not the point. My point was that playing Mario just to get to the end is silly--there's more to these games then their length. New Super Mario Bros was short, but getting all the Golden Star Coins was darn challenging, and it tripled my playtime. Not to mention all the hidden worlds, levels and shortcuts it had to discover.

@ Kid A Can you please change your avator I rally do not like IT . But Back on topic, Can anybody show us some pics from nintendo power ?
Maybe I don't like your avatar, which is why the Wild Thing in my avatar looks so sad But yeah I'm gonna change it; I just did it to get myself pumped for Where the Wild Things Are. EDIT: There, changed it. Happy now? Will you be able to sleep tonight?
Official Nintendo Magazine gave NSMB Wii 96%. Its an entirely new game, seperate ti the DS game.
76 stages Koopa Kids have kidnapped Peach Lot of Super Mario Bros 3 vibes (eg. map screens, enemies etc) Spin jump move and Yoshi (Super Mario World nod) Power up and 1 up noises in the remote Spinning flowers Peguin suit = SMBros 3 frog suit Amazing attention to detail. Looks & sounds increadible Fair amount of Yoshi, but not quite as much as as they/we would have liked Four player multiplayer Fourth player is just another Toad Players bump into eachother not pass through eachother Can pause and add or remove players at anytime Free play, coin battle, main adventure modes Co-op Starts easy ends hard as nails One player play is not diminised by multiplayer element to game. Logs how many times you continue Getting all three star coins in each level gives you more of a decent surprise than the ds game (not revealed in revw) You don't need multiplayer to play to get all three star coins. You can get them as a single player. Super guide mode after you die 8 times in a stage. Hint movies as well. Luigi helps you. Optional. Plenty of replay value Should appeal to hardcore and casual All time great, essentil purchase. 96% ONM Gold Award.
"They say video games are bad for you? That's what they said about rock n' roll."
Yea, I understand, Kid A, just explaining that some people don't play games that way... personally, I prefer short games so I can play repeatedly and try to get better. Gold coins do little for me, but they also don't hurt.
