Topic: Wii U's Wii Mode Question

Are there any Wii VC(Virtual Console), WW(WiiWare), &/or disc games that suffer from latency, &/or are otherwise rendered unplayable, from moving/transferring (Wii) games, & data to the WU(Wii U)? Why I ask is b/c I know the Wii wasn't capable of hd(it could do component connection at best), & I wondered if a WU displaying through an hdmi cable, affected this. My WU is connected to an hd-capable wide screen, via the Nintendo-included hdmi cable.

Also on the subject, is the Wii mode actual full Wii hardware inside the WU, is it software emulation, or a mix of hardware, & software emulation? I was just curious, though I presume it's the third option.

Thanks in advance!

Wii games actually have LESS latency running on Wii U's Wii mode through HDMI, from my experience. All games are playable except for anything that REQUIRE the GCN controller ports on Wii. You can't play 8-player Bomberman Blast, and you are stuck using the Balance Board for the Dance Dance games that support it.

There is no emulation going on to run Wii mode. There is Wii hardware in the Wii U, but how much isn't really all well known. Some people think the whole Wii is in there on a tiny chip, which is possible, but I think they only put the hardware that is needed to run Wii games in there that the Wii U itself wouldn't otherwise have. Things like Wii remote controls, sensor bar, and bluetooth are already in use for Wii U, so I think it draws from that once, instead of twice, which would actually be the case if whole Wii is in there.
It's the same reasoning about why the GamePad is usable as a screen for Wii mode, because they just tell the Wii U to run Wii mode on whatever screen, which means Wii mode and Wii U are connected in some ways by default.

Gamecube, Wii, and Wii U have similar system architecture. The Wii U is even capable of running gamecube games with a little bit of a homebrew because the systems are so similar. The hardware isn't all that different, just iterations more powerful. Software is all thats needed to put the system in to a mode where it natively runs older system software. There should be no difference running Wii software on a Wii U than a Wii.

Thanks much! I was curious.

If latency is a problem, many TVs nowadays have a "Game" display option (in addition to "Standard", "Dynamic" etc.) which helps to reduce the amount of processing necessary in order to display the image, and that has helped me enormously, particularly with games such as New Super Mario Bros. games, which both require precise controls in some of the later levels.

I have Mario Galaxy 2 and I still haven't figured out how to play it on my Wii U. I bought a Wii remote and I can play New Super Mario Wii but for some reason MG2 just won't work.

I never dabbled much into the Wii mode but if the online downloadable games are there to purchase, I always wanted to get Mario RPG on there.

Stupid question perhaps, but needs to be asked, do you have a nunchuck as well as the remote? You need that too for SMG2 (NSMBW doesn't). And the classic controller (ordinary or pro) for Mario RPG.

I have no problems running the disc version of Mario Galaxy 2 in Wii mode, it works fine. You do need a nunchuck to control it.

If that's true, that's just not worth getting just to use them for one or two games. I don't understand why it would be so hard for Nintendo to make the Wii U gamepad or pro controller compatible with these games. This is another reason why I don't want to get Mario Party for the Wii U. I spent money on 3 pro controllers that will not even work with this game.
