With the the last Wii U software update, you can use the vWii mode in the Gamepad. Ok, but you still have to use the TV for select "Wii on the Gamepad". Isn't that kind of silly? Can't understand it, you should be able to select that mode in the same Gamepad.
BTW, playing Wii games with the Gamepad itself and off-tv would be AWESOME.
@ScroogeMcLz I don't know about you, but 25% of the time I use that method to switch to Wii Mode my Wii U hard freezes and I end up having to unplug my console. Hopefully this gets fixed in the next update.
However, my Wii U don't get freezed but when I push the B button on the Gamepad it tells me that I have to turn the Wii mode through the TV.
Is this happening only to me?
No, for me it is the the same. Which is weird, because I remember I did use this way of entering Wii mode previously, without using the tv. But it seems that since the update, that allows you to run wii games on the gamepad, doesn't allow it anymore :/

Happens to me as well so the just hold B method doesn't work without the TV on.
