After viewing the success of "Animal Crossing: New Leaf" it's only natural to assume Nintendo will be pursuing the possibilities of releasing another Animal Crossing of such likeness onto the Nintendo Wii U. Though thereupon comes much speculation and personal hopes. Speculation and hopes that will (assumedly) be more than appropriately crushed sometime within the near future. So here are merely a few individual little thoughts as to what I personally wish to see on such a console game:

  • Animal Crossing Galaxy: A thought that's plagued me only quite recently. As since the the wide-world scrolling perspective was originally introduced into the series, where the horizon is consistently only a few feet away from your character as you galoomph about your serene paradise. It's often come across as if your town was settled upon a rather minuscule planet. And so it seems only natural to progress this visual decision into an actual planet. Whereupon your town/ocean is physically wrapped around a circular form, and doesn't technically suffer from any walking boundaries. Essentially meaning far greater freedom and space to explore and establish garden designs. What's more such a decision allow for greater gameplay innovations in other aspects. Merely imagine the possibilities hoppin' aboard a rickety old spacecraft piloted by Gulliver to explore and discover other rogue planets found sailing through your solar system, whether they be your friends or those of strangers. You could even (possibly) escape for a few hours to more secluded little planets, ones that are more island/city themed and come with a host of different activities and distractions. The entire spiel would essentially add a rather unique spin to a rather settled series, all without altering the much-loved formulae all to much

Though what about yourselves dear visitors and viewers, what are some little gameplay elements you personally might wish to see added or removed within an upcoming Animal Crossing game. And how would you want the gamepad to be utilised to further enhance such experiences?

Notation: It's been three entirely sleepless days and the Holidays Festives have wrecked quite a havoc upon my consciousness. With my primary diet consisting of pure dark coffee, chocolates, sweet delicacies and a multitude of different alcoholic beverages. So I do apologise in advance for my logical ineptitude and thought structures

That's a crazy idea, so I actually like it a lot. In fact I've recently thought of a bit of a daring new feature they could add to a Wii U Animal Crossing.

Basically it's an "Online Mode" in which you live in a much much larger town alongside other online users(probably only people on your friendslist) and you can each live in individual houses throughout the same town, maybe even be roommates if you'd like. You can all each affect what happens in the town like any other Animal Crossing. You can even play in the town whenever you want, doesn't matter if your friends are online or not. Same for them, they can enter and do whatever they want without you even being there. So it's like a fun interactable online plaza for you and your friends. And in a way, it can help build teamwork as you all must learn to agree and work together to make your town a success.

Animal Crossing U needs to be extremely pretty and have tons of new stuff. Animal Crossing: Galaxy sounds awesome.

The 3DS is the first version of AC that I actually played and I was pretty happy with. I think I burnt myself out to quick though, I was tired of it after a month of playing pretty much non-stop. I'd definitely buy a Wii U version, especially if it looks as pleasant as the Animal Crossing Plaza the Wii U has. The Galaxies idea is neat as well, it did kind of feel like you were on a small planet in New Leaf.

As somebody who shared their town alongside two other siblings, fought and organised, scheduled and amused over the game together. This is certainly a feature that I would willingly wish to see implemented. As the Animal Crossing series truly excels when you have people to share your adventures and designs alongside with. It's essentially become an apt social network of sorts within recent renditions. And having a massive online community isn't even a feature that'll all to impact the greater serenity/relaxation factor of Animal Crossing either, So I'm all for it personally. And I imagine hosting massive fishing/bug competitions or garage sales could be an absolute blast alongside a township of fellow friends

As I feel obligated to play every game of this series (despite only really liking the first and latest games), please please please please don't let it be a lazy City Folk-like game.

@Spuratis That's everyone's experience with Animal Crossing. Its really addicting in the beginning but suddenly it becomes too repetitive and boring. It still has tons of charm but it needs WAYYYYY more content.

The BEST thing about Animal Crossing: New Leaf, in my opinion, is the function that allows you to send real time messages via Internet in the game. Its like texting. My friends and I talk all the time while we play the game.

^I think you're right about the lack of things to do.. I mean, if you pace yourself by limiting play to maybe 1-2 hours a day.. you're probably going to get the full experience and not run out of things to do. If you're playing 4-5 hours a day, it's going to get old and that's a big problem to have with a console game. Hand-held is really a different story. When you're playing a console game you're going to sit down and play at least a couple hours, at least I do. I think if they make another Animal Crossing there should be more activities. Even if they're just taking the current ones and adding more depth to them. Example: Fishing and diving: You can actually buy yourself a boat that you can deck out like a house. You can take it out fishing and with upgrades go further out for a bigger catch. You can also dive off it. When you dive, you actually see the underwater world and snorkel or scuba-dive if you have the gear. I know it's not REALLY a new activity, but it adds a new layer of exploration and something to work for. I got this sinking feeling in Animal Crossing that when I go my Wet Suit and Fishing Pole.. that was it. I knew I'd catch different stuff and that was cool, but I wanted more. Maybe I'm asking for too much, especially from a hand held. A console version on the other hand I think should have more to the activities if they don't add whole new ones altogether.

Edit: Just to build on the fishing idea and for something to be different in different seasons, there could be Ice Fishing, too. ..maybe I should turn my AC on right now and see if there is actually Ice Fishing in winter.. I doubt it though.

The pure reason so many adore Animal Crossing I imagine, and the reason it's become such a success on the 3DS.
As much like similar experiences such as Minecraft, many would consider it the one social network-esque system that's actively pursuing the aim of remaining an interactive social experience. Without all the self-pandering nonsense that all to often comes alongside such social mediums. It's all why I'm partially excited for a Nintendo Wii U version, as it'll be fascinating to witness how they both implement and innovate alongside Miiverse

Maybe that's another problem I had with AC.. I had absolutely no friends and played completely solo and in silence. That might have made the game that much more interesting. I still loved the game though while it lasted, I was actually pretty addicted. I just tend to burn myself out on stuff too quickly. I'm playing Rune Factory 4 right now and I'm really trying to pace myself with that.. I haven't made it passed 2nd spring in a HM/RF game in years. I just lose interest. I think online and more connectivity with other players could really remedy this problem.

@Spuratis Oh... I am very glad we are having this conversation. I totally agree with everything you said. Animal Crossing needs wayyy more content and some kind of OPTIONAL story. If people don't wanna do a story, fine. But what about the people who actually wants a cool story with Animal Crossing's cute engine?
As I played Animal Crossing: New Leaf... I couldn't help but think:
Why can't we explore a volcano?
Why isn't there some kind of snow resort?
Why does the bills cost so much? Its a major turn off.
Why does finding furniture for a theme so dang hard?
Why can't we visit a Zelda them village or a Metroid them village?
Why aren't there warp pipes?

LOL the list runs on!!! So many potential possibilities!!!

Admittedly, I always only ever played for about thirty minutes a day, as that was usually all that was required of me before the activities ran dry. So I can definitely see the benefits in further enhancing and developing the depth of Animal Crossing's playability. Which is partially why I genuinely hope that the next instalment increases by a galactic portion. Merely the imagine the possibilities of sailing into the skies each morning to witness a new mini-planet passing through for the next week. It'd be an optimum system to implement all your suggestions. As one week it may be a volcano planet complete with a rather feisty fire demon offering volcano furniture in return for completing little challenges. Whilst the next week it may well be an snow planet, complete with ice skates or ice fishing, and a host or rare collectable fish

I guess for an Animal Crossing Wii U I would want it too either have Major MMO elements or go heavier into the Mayor Stuff becoming more like Harvest Moon or Simcity. I'm not the only one thinking this game is coming out next year right?

I think the a very cool thing to include would be a city... NOT LIKE THE ONE THEY HAVE NOW!
Imagine a big city like NYC that you could take a taxi
eat at a Pizza Hut
Go to a Nintendo world store to buy virtual nintendo products
they could even incorporate YouTube for a movie theater!
What about adopting a pet alien?! (Since the villagers are animals)
buy ice skates to ski in the winter
What about when you buy a virtual console game on eshop, you get that game in your characters house! Just like on GameCube!

Even incorporate some storms, power goes out across town, tornado's coming, everyone has to go with Isabelle to an underground shelter.
One of your villagers got caught stealing from you... He must go to prison for a week!

Anyway those are my ideas...

Kind of what I meant. November of next year is when the Animal Crossing Plaza ends and would be a good time to launch the next game. Most of the character's are already in HD with the Plaza and the main game should be easy enough to build. I just hope it doesn't become a glorified expansion pack like City Folk was.

@10000mario

I adore some the thoughts you've brought up. Specifically as "Animal Crossing: City Folk" is actually the only Animal Crossing game I've played thus far (Gasp). And though I realise the general consensus is that City Folk is rather unoriginal and bland in comparison to other games within the franchise, I'm also aware that it made for relatively sound introduction to the series. And though the city aspect was admittedly drastically underused, To see that expansion make a more developed and innovative return would certainly fill me with the nostalgia fuzzies all the same. And as several have now mentioned, I specifically adore the possible thought of Nintendo further implementing other franchise references/easter eggs into Animal Crossing. Be it through something such as a generic space-pilot fox (Possible Cousin of Crazy Redd) crash landing occasionally into your town, or otherwise

I also think Animal Crossing U should have more places you can eat like a donut place, a muffin place, ice cream factory, etc. Just more places the gamer can eat at and relax. ALSO... Animal Crossing U needs to be more clear on what the gamer must do to unlock stuff. Going online to find a guide to explain stuff hidden in the game needs to stop. The game should give the gamer hints on what to do.
And one more thing... Animal Crossing games need to stop punishing gamers who can't play the game 24-7. Seeing a villager leave because you was too busy in your real life is a terrible feeling.
