In the early 2000s, Disney Channel had a daypart that was known as Zoog Disney. Geared towards a slightly more mature audience than the One Saturday Morning Block on ABC, Zoog had edgy programs like So Weird, music concert of pop-stars, and well as reruns of shows like Boy Meets World. Plus, Kim Possible originated from this brand. It also operated with a companion site that allowed users to chat, play games, and blog.
People say that Nintendo is the Disney of gaming, but what would be their equivalent to this? Something cool, and hip for those Jr. High kids who think Mario/Mickey is for their 8 year old brother?
Fire Emblem, Metroid, certain Zelda, and the Xenoblade games.
BTW, what's your obession with comparing Video Games to Western Cartoons? Granted, the Disney comparison is brought up by a lot of people (and I know the block your referencing had more than just cartoons), but it seems like 90% of your threads are comparing games and western cartoons for some reason.

@martinskrtel37: Ok, tin foil hats aside, Nintendo and Disney are both companies, and as that is such, they both share the same goal: make money. At no point do I really ser Nintendo nurturing young minds, nor do I really see Disney destroying them.

Well, video games are proven to be more mentally stimulating that just sitting and watching TV.
In addition, Disney makes movies intended for children to endlessly watch over and over again, then for them to buy toys based on the movies. Disney has also taken over successful studios like Marvel and Lucasfilms and people are anxious that they'll drop the ball and screw it up.
Take Cars. Cars, Cars 2 and now the upcoming cars 3 are mediocre, bad, and worse. Disney's merchandise branch is forcing Pixar to produce a crappy movie so that little kids will watch it endlessly and buy toy cars. An otherwise innovative studio is being forced to make a movie for no reason other than merchandising.
Nintendo is know for innovation. Disney is know for essentially re-hashing the same plot with an obligatory princess for each year of upcoming little girls. They put in songs that little kids will sing over and over and over again.
Aside from (debate-ably) Frozen, I can't even remember the last pure Disney move that was memorable. Sure, Tangled was a decent movies (one of Disney's better ones) but it wasn't really very innovative or creative.
Also, if Disney could, they would copyright every single fairy-tale so as to have a monopoly on fairy-tale movies. They prevented Micky Mouse from going into the public domain (which he should have) by making some excuse about how people could advertise smoking using him or something. News Flash: People generally don't ask if they can make fun of a copyrighted character. And who would want to advertise with Mickey Mouse? And you can't legally advertise smoking on TV anymore.
Other animation design studios find Disney oppressive because it's so hard to compete with such a large company.
@RR529: All of those are either Live- Action and/or non-traditional (no princess/heroine). And no singing. Not the type of Disney movie I was referring to.
Big Hero six was also a re-imagining of an old comic book series or some-such. Sort of like giving Disney credit for Marvel movies just because they own it.
Pervasive, singing, obnoxious kids movies. Classic Disney. That is what I'm referring to.
For every hit disney has, there are 2-5 duds everyone conveniently forgets about. Either flat-out bad or so mediocre they are forgotten within the year of their release.

To be fair, you can also say that about Nintendo, especially when it comes to games licensed out to third parties.
Looks at Wario Master of Disguise, Yoshi's Topsy Turvy, Mario Pinball Land, etc *
@CM30: Oh, Nintendo definitely has it's flops. The difference is that Nintendo usually has better quality control on their "core" games: Smash Bros, Mario Kart, Legend of Zelda, etc.
Whenever they source it to someone else (or someone different than they normally do) or try to attempt a totally different playstyle is when things go bad.
