Topic: How do downloaded games interact with disc games?

I want to have a completely disc-based game collection, because I just can't stand the idea of being unable to take a game to a friend's house.
However, the Mario Kart 8 promotion has led to me owning the Download copy of Game & Wario on my Wii U. If I were to get a disc-based version of Game & Wario, what would happen?
Would they both use the same save data, essentially giving me two icons on the menu that launch the exact same thing? Would they have separate saves from each other? And what if I were to delete Game & Wario from my Wii U menu. Would I still have the save data when I put the disc in? What if I deleted it, started a game on the disc version, and then re-downloaded it from the eShop?

The saves are on the memory, so I think they will use the same save, but the disc will still take the disc icon on the menu while the downloaded version has its own icon.
