I'm tempted into buying an ipod touch to play some games, but i dont know if there are enough good games on it for me to buy it as a gaming console, or just as an internet on the go. I only have a few games I can think of that I would want

  • Final Fantasy
  • Street Fighter 4
  • Super Monkey Ball
  • Metal Gear Solid
  • Michelle

Other than those 5, there isnt anything that good for it, plus they're on different consoles too. Are there any other games on it that I should get, or should I just not buy one?

There are some solid games there, almost all of which surpass services such as DSiWare. If you're expecting like, full-on retail release-like games you might be disappointed, but there are actually several that can deliver. Here's my list of ten "cool" games I'd suggest to people:

MA TAWP TEYN!!! (I don't know >_>)
-Sonic the Hedgehog! (because you didn't have enough ports on every other gaming system you've played ) Sonic 4 is coming btw
-EliminatePro (online FPS with sorta RPG-esque elements outside of play)
-DoodleJump (yes...it probably looks terrible, but it's one of the most addictive games my friends and I have played in years)
-Krazy Kart (surprisingly fun Mario Kart rip-off)
-HYBRID: Eternal Whisper (an RPG)
-ZENONIA (similar to Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past in some ways, in a $3 kind of way LOL)
-TapTap Revenge (a rhythm game, sort of guitar hero-esque in gameplay but obviously tapping; free and has some free songs, others $)
-Phoenix Wright series (point and click-ish courtroom drama, 'tis all the rage and at this price it's way cheaper than WiiWare)
-Assassin's Creed (never played so I can't say, but it looks like an action game and supposedly will last as long as some retail games)
-Omino (a cute Mario Bros-esque platforming game, down to the 16bit-esque visuals)

They're not all system sellers, but I assure you there are certainly some great games on the service. It's kind of like the old "sum is greater than its parts" thing. If you're looking for huge big-namers you might not find many good games, but it would be a shame to miss out on some of the stuff on offer here. As for the internet browser, now THAT is quite the browser...the amount of time I've spent on that thing nearly justifies the purchase of the Touch. XD Everything loads super-fast, controls are excellent, etc.Only problem, really, is no flash support (though some think it's actually beneficial due to the instability and such).

[*All of this is OPINION from a guy who uses a Touch 3G. If you get an older model yours will run slower, there will be less memory for the internet browser, etc]

@2 Well thanks for that big list. I heard a lot of good things about Zenonia, and may check it out. As for all of the other games that go with it, I'll check out EliminatePro and Krazy Kart. And I'm not looking for huge budget games, just something nice from a trusted brand like Capcom or Square. All of the indie stuff I may check out. Any good indie stuff anyway?

I can definetely name quite a few, and just to help convince you I'll only list games that aren't available in any form on other gaming consoles, the way that Sonic, Tetris, Assassin's Creed and whatnot are. Sorry if any of these actually are on other consoles without my knowing:

Doodle Jump!!!!! ($.99)-I added the exclamation points because it's amazing. While it is HIGHLY simplistic and does not have a lot of depth, it is probably THE most addicting game anywhere! Also, there are now all sorts of themes that change the background, enemies and overall style of the game, including a jungle theme, a space theme, and the just released underwater theme, and they're just going to keep adding more, all for FREE!

Angry Birds ($.99)-This has been the top paid app on the app store for quite a while, and for a reason. This is a super fun game about a group of birds trying to exact revenge on a bunch of green pigs! And for the measly 99 cents you get over 150 levels to play. And they just keep on adding more levels in FREE updates!

Pocket God ($.99)-You are God. You control a group of island people, who you can do whatever you want to. You can pick them up, toss them in the water, feed them to a shark, have them get eaten by ants, take them underwater, bury them alive so that they come back as zombies and infect the others, make them dance, the possibilities are endless. There are also tons of minigames to play, including a Doodle Jump-esque game and a sort of "Super Mario Bros. on rails" type of game (the only thing you control in that game is the jumping). The game is constantly coming out with (I feel like a broken record) FREE updates that add even more gameplay features to it. (the game literally had almost nothing to do when it was first released).

Rolando (and its sequel) (first is $2.99, sequel is $4.99)-Two great platformers for iTouch. They involve rolling circular creatures ("Rolandos") and trying to get them to the end of the level, with many puzzle elements involved. Some Rolandos have special abilities, and some are just lazy and you need the others to guide them to the end. Once you select one or more Rolandos, you simply tilt the screen to get them rolling and swipe up to make them jump. They're tons of fun!

Plants VS. Zombies ($2.99)-An insanely fun tower defense game, where use a group of (admittedly unusual) plants to help fight off zombies and keep them from getting in your house and eating your brains. I personally find that you're doing a lot more in this game than most tower defense games. There's no way you could just let it sit there and be fine, unless (perhaps) you're close to the end of a level. Also, this game is hilarious!

Tap Tap Revenge 3 (FREE!)-Guitar Hero with tapping, except it's not focused on specific instruments. It's not entirely free if you want a full experience. You get a good number of free songs, but I've heard of almost none of them. However there's a Tap Tap Store where you can buy all sorts of other songs (you get 2 for 99 cents by the way!).

Fruit Ninja ($.99)-Apparently, ninjas hate fruit. It is your job to slice fruit that it tossed into the air, by simply sliding your finger over the fruit that appears. There are unlockable blades and backgrounds. Trust me, it's fun.

Tilt to Live ($1.99)-You play as a little spaceship thing (I think) who moves around the screen by you tilting it. You must avoid red dots around the screen or else you die. There are various "orbs" located around the screen, which help you to destroy the red dots, and get more points. It's a ton of fun.

That's enough for now.

I would recommend these top 5 cheaply priced games:
1) Soosiz- a 2D super mario galaxy with cute and sleek graphics, a large variety of environments, huge boss fights and a large collection of secrets.
2) Super Quick Hook- addictive 16-bit arcade action which is hard as nails and is seasoned with humour.
3) Piyo Blocks 2- it has the "match three" puzzle genre absolutly aced with appeling colourful graphics, well done online intergration and an absloute arsenal of modes avalible.
4) Trundle- an atmospheric phyisics platfomer that is free with extra DLC avalible for purchase.
5) DoodleKart- a top down mario kart that allows you to draw your own car (or use the 4 defult ones) and race it in a extensive championship mode or race against your friends and compete in online leaderboards.
There is more expensive games I could have mentioned e.g. Nova, Real Racing and Mega Man 2. Also some more free games I could have mentioned e.g. TILTRIS, Falldown! and Jelly Car.
