Topic: Why won't my controllers stay in 2 player mode?

We are using the Joycons with the Switch docked. We set the Joycons up to use in 2 player mode in controller settings, but every time we turn the switch off or change to a new game, they revert back to single-player mode. This is our first day using this and I am quite disappointed. How do you keep the Joycons in 2 player mode???

Joy-con don't control the amount of players that is the game software configuration that does that. Did you look at the settings?

@trully70 If you're talking about playing 2 player with half joycons, closing a game can reset the joycons pair. Like the half joycon setup is stored in the game, and forgotten once you close the game. I almost think mario tennis does this. Also, if you set your controllers up on Switch home screen, some games still make your set up multiplayer controllers again after opening a new game... My memory is fuzzy on what I've encountered, but i think that's what I've seen.
